Who the hell picks a female governor from Alaska to be his running mate?

Seriously?

I'm not anti-feminist, I think the right woman could do a wonderful job as VP or President... But when you are bashing Obama on his inexperience, you pick a young, inexperienced woman to be next in line???

I swear, the two parties are so stupid, it's absolutely amazing. The Democrats basically have this election handed to them on a silver platter, and rather than pick a candidate that most anyone who has a sour taste in their mouth from the current administration can vote for, they decide to let a young, inexperienced black guy and a psycho woman trash each other for a year. This election was a fucking gift for the Democrats, and they screwed the pooch.

Now, leave it to the Republicans to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory by putting up a woman almost no one has ever heard of to be second in command...

If the stakes weren't so high, I'd laugh.

Yep, VP doesn't really do jack anyway, she isn't in a position of power.
And all this crap about McCain keeling early and handing over presidency to the first woman in history is a load of crap, have you seen how healthy the guy is?

The is the 1st term governor of a state with more caribou than people and she "hasn't really thought about Iraq".

McCains health IS a serious concern for many voters, and so this woman needs to be evaluated AS PRESIDENT, not just as veep.

Additionally, when she gets into the same room with Biden for a debate and they get asked foreign-policy questions, it's going to be very embarrassing for the GOP.

She is not used to being on the national stage and will doubtless say and do things to embarrass herself, McCain, and her party.

Her actual competencies aside, this is an AWFUL political choice. It was blatantly designed to pull Hillary voters into McCain's fold, but they are ardently pro-choice and socially liberal, and thus this obviously won't happen.

Why he picked a pro-life, pro-gun, conservative Christian VP is *beyond* me. Why is he pandering to the base when they have no choice but to vote for him anyway? He needs to try to capture the CENTER, and should've gone with Lieberman or maybe Romney.

Whoever wins the center will win in November, period. "Rally the Base" won't work in 2008.

Biden is an idiot. I know a retired top Senate Aid to Sam Nunn that knows Biden personally and even he said come debate time this woman will eat him alive because the country bumpkin inside of Biden wont allow him to go hard on the "Purdy Lady".

Just remember this, you can bet 15% or more of Obama voters are voting him because of his race alone. You dont think women will be the same way come voting time?

Lieberman would have blown the GOP rally this week into pieces. The guy is a train wreck. I believe Romney should have been the choice, McCain simply went for the shock value to cancel out Obama's speech the previous night and to draw support from Hillary voters on the fence. Everyone knows it. Now its up to Palin to prove that she is right for the job. One good thing about having the Gov of Alaska as VP is she was down for drilling in ANWR and Im pretty sure the Gov of Alaska turning presumptive VP of the US trumps any stinky hippies protest against drilling Alaska for oil.

Palin did that from 92 to 96. She has run her own companies. She was a mayor of a town and now Governor of Alaska.

Abortion - In 2002, while running for lieutenant governor, Palin called herself as "pro-life as any candidate can be."[42] She opposes abortion for rape and incest victims, supporting it only in cases where the mother's life is in danger,[107] and suggested that requiring parental consent for abortions be added to Alaska's constitution.[108] Palin is a member of Feminists for Life.[109] A 2006 article in the Anchorage Daily News refers to Palin as supportive of contraception but does not go into detail on the subject.[42]

ANWR drilling - Palin has strongly promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) to drilling.[50]

Capital Punishment - Palin supports capital punishment for some crimes. She has stated that: "If the legislature passed a death penalty law, I would sign it. We have a right to know that someone who rapes and murders a child or kills an innocent person in a drive-by shooting will never be able to do that again."[110]

Creationism and Evolution - In a televised debate in 2006, Palin said she supported teaching both creationism and evolution in public schools. She clarified her position the next day, saying that if a debate of alternative views arose in class she would not prohibit its discussion. She added that she would not push the state Board of Education to add creation-based alternatives to the state's required curriculum.[111]

Global Warming - Palin does not believe that global warming is human-caused.[53]

Guns - Palin, a long-time member of the National Rifle Association, strongly supports its interpretation of the Second Amendment as protecting individual rights to bear arms, including handguns. She also supports gun safety education for youth.[112]

Marijuana - Palin opposes the re-legalization of marijuana in Alaska, stating concerns about the message re-legalization would send to her children. Palin has admitted smoking marijuana, which at one time was legal under Alaskan state law although illegal under US law.[42]

Same-Sex Marriage - Palin opposes same-sex marriage[42] and supported a non-binding referendum for a constitutional amendment to deny state health benefits to same-sex couples.[113] Palin has stated that she supported the 1998 constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.[42]

Sex Education - Palin is a "firm supporter of abstinence-only education in schools" according to CNN in 2006.[114] When running for governor in 2006, Palin wrote, "Yes, the explicit sex-ed programs will not find my support," in response to a questionnaire by the Eagle Forum Alaska.[115][116]

Terrorism and Iraq - Palin's foreign policy positions were unclear at the time she was picked as McCain's running mate.[117] Shortly after she became governor in December 2006, the Alaska Business Monthly asked Palin for her views about troop escalations in Iraq. She replied "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq. I heard on the news about the new deployments, and while I support our president, Condoleezza Rice and the administration, I want to know that we have an exit plan in place…"[118][119] She has said she supports President Bush's idea of stopping terrorism "by taking the fight to the terrorists".[77][117] Palin has also tied the war to the quest for new energy supplies, saying, "We are a nation at war and in many [ways] the reasons for war are fights over energy sources, which is nonsensical when you consider that domestically we have the supplies ready to go."[120]

Wildlife conservation - Palin opposed federal listing of the polar bear as an endangered species on the grounds that the "population has dramatically increased over 30 years as a result of conservation,"[121] and supported a controversial predator-control program involving aerial hunting of wolves to increase moose populations for hunters.[122]

You know. As time goes on i'm beginning to be less impressed by her. Granted her private life should not be part of this cmpaign, but c'mon seriously, No abortions for rape or incest victims? And obviously that abstinence-only approach really worked for her daughter.

About the only thing I do like about her is her economic policies and her gun policies. And it irks me that she smoked the ganj while it was legal, but will not relegalize it even if the people want to. Talk about a case of eating your cake and having it too.

And that's exactly why a lot of americans are just plain stupid. They're voting for gender/race and not whatever candidate fits their political view.

Next race should assign each candidate a number. No one is allowed to see the candidate or hear them. All interviews will be conducted remotely and responses will be cencored as to not give away their race or gender. A list of their accomplishments will be available. Man that wold be great.
