fcdrifter13 11-10-2007, 11:10 AM My girlfriend and I will be moving into an apartment in Shepherdstown WV. We are allowed to have two animals in the apartment for our 4-6 year stay, and we are thinking about buying a welsh corgi. Its just the right size for an apartment, not to big and not to small, and they are supposed to be reasonably smart.
What I am wanting to know is, is this a good bread of dog, are there any reason not to get one. Such as certain health problems that see to be more evident in this breed, do they get along well with children, and other pets. You know anything like that.
Palumbo 11-10-2007, 11:49 AM Just because you have the option to have animals at your new pad doesn't necessarily mean you have to have any. I am saying this because I have a friend who lives in his own apartment. He had two dogs and it just didn't work out. To each his own though, I love dogs myself and would probably take the opportunity if it was given to me.
Say No To Pistons 11-10-2007, 12:26 PM The answer is google.
vrooom305 11-10-2007, 12:36 PM The most important question to me would be, how much does a welsh corgi cost?
I don't know anything about them, but I'd get one :D
fcdrifter13 11-10-2007, 12:55 PM WE found a breeder selling pups for $400, and i think that is a good price for a dog that has had all of its shots and is registered.

We both have dogs and love them, but the ones that we have are to big and are more of a family pet than our own.

GET THE DOG!
2ndGen.Rocket 11-10-2007, 03:50 PM It's a gay dog. Get a man's dog, not a chick dog. I hate little things that yelp.
rtryb2200 11-10-2007, 06:06 PM I know a few people that have corgi's, and just like any other dog they have their own quirks.

. I would never own a little ankle biter but that is me.
Queen 11-10-2007, 06:10 PM That's the kind of dog I wanted last time I was looking to get a dog, but at the time no breeders around here had any. They're precious, get one
You should get a cat instead
Tofuball 11-11-2007, 07:10 AM A trained ATTACK cat.
fcdrifter13 11-12-2007, 02:06 AM We were accually looking at this site http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/, when we found a breeder near us. Walking will not be a problem because the town we are moving to is a one street kinda town that happens to have a really good college down the road.
Pets are allowed in every shop, and they are usually given treats for coming in, also one of the local coffee joints uses a corgi as there mascot.
DarkAngelKamui 11-12-2007, 07:35 AM Nice choice, I've always wanted one ever since I first saw Cowboy Bebop

Manntis 11-12-2007, 12:39 PM If you want to get a Corgi to seem more 'upscale', you may want to consider no longer beginning sentences with "me and the girlfriend..."
fcdrifter13 11-12-2007, 01:12 PM lol whats upscale lol
But I did change it in the very first sentence.
SunRedRX7 11-12-2007, 06:44 PM Corgis Rule!
THey are like getting a big dog, but in a smaller package.
Here are my 2 playing in the backyard. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8s5957nuf88)
2ndGen.Rocket 11-12-2007, 07:30 PM Which is the same thing as getting a small dog.

give me the little pissed off one

Not exactly.
Their temperament is very different. A Corgi was bred as a herding dog, while a toy dog was bred to sit on someone's lap, making for 2 very different kinds of dogs.
I wouldn't take a pug for a hike, but neither of my Corgi's have issues going for long hikes (http://youtube.com/watch?v=HLvbPUv3CtE).

She has calmed down a little bit now that she is a little bigger and can get in on the action. She still is the "loud" one of the 2 and usually the instigator of most of their fights. Eventually she'll figure out that she is not alpha dog.

He said small dog, not toy. A Dachshund is a small dog, but not a toy - as is a Corgi.
Eatmyclutch 11-13-2007, 02:22 PM Fuck a Welsh Corgi. Adopt a Pitbull.
