Just for you guys who don't like reading hundred's of pages of info on the "other forum" and MSEFI.com...

The leading AND trailing for FC and FD ignition systems is almost complete. There is one last glitch that the guys at MSEFI are looking at, and then a few weeks worth of testing before its "ready" for street cars. Actually, right now, there are 2 cars running on the current code and they both say the 2800rpm mis-fire due to an extended dwell isn't even noticable as the trailing plugs do almost nothing, and your bairly making power at that point anyway.

So, a quick rundown of what's required at this point to run an FC or FD:
-MS v1 computer chip
-MS v2 board (v3 is being tested)
-Upgrade Megasquirt to MegaSquirt 'N Spark - Extra code (MSnS-extra for short)
-build a VR conditioner circuit to decode the stock CAS/trigger wheel (for both FC and FD....both are 24-2/12-1)
-Modify the board for 3 triggers for coils, 1 for leading, 1 for trailing, 1 to select which trailing plug is fired (front or rear rotor)

To those who haven't been following Megasquirt, the version numbers are quite confusing. Right now there are 2 chips and 3 main boards available. MS-I and MS-II chips and v1, v2 and v3 boards. Right now, the "proven" combo for rotary cars is MS-I chip with v2 board.

I would expect full rotary ignition to be working by the middle of next month...which means a fully-functional computer for less than $200 if you do it right.

Right click and save as , decent ecu for the money and a ton of support on the forums. Quite a few people are using it for rotary engines too.

I've been running it on my FC for a few months now, I'm REALLY happy with it, though I'm only using a dizzy for the ignition.. I can't wait for the code to be finialized/tested, and I'm going back to CAS. This thing is amazing, the car has so much more power through the entire range than it did with the stock ECU. I highly recommend it to any EFI setup.

I know the guy writing the code for ignition on the rotary and have seen the test car.

I'm learning how this thing works as I go... Actually, once (if) you guys start running the leading and trailing Ignition code, once it's finished, I'd be glad to pass your results and possible problems on to the guy.

Awsome! Well, I've upgraded my Megasquirt to the Extra code to start with. This week I'm going to get the car running fuel-only (I hope). Right now the car starts and runs on the stock computer....just not very well. Wideband is going to be ordered VERY soon...

lol, yeah I know him too... I LIVE with the guy... :D

And last I checked, he's finally complete... i'm sure his G/f will thank him for that, given all the time he's spent hunched over his desk... :teeth:

Thanks for the Cliffs Notes...my head was spinning from the 20+ page threads on the Megasquirt forum. Can't beat a $200 standalone.
