im goignt o try to listen to meteallica now. tired of the shitty hip/hop and rap around here. so far i got Enter Sandman and Unforgiven and its pretty damn good. now im downloading Fade To Black. any more favs people? and you too king. i saw you listening to Metallica.

lol.

download these albums:

Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
And Justice for All

That's the 3 main kick ass ones.... the black album, "metallica" is good too, but doesn't deliver like the 3 above.

load and reload are shit, don't waste your time. Unforgiven II is the only decent song from both albums.

St Anger... mixed.. first time I heard it, i thought it was shit, after listening to it a couple of times + seeing the video i like it.... frantic, st anger, some kind of monster are good songs from this album.

The first album kill 'em all is really grungy, not matured... it's alright.. good to have.

live shit bin and purge / S&M albums.... see if you like them first before downloading.

Oooooooooooooooohhhhhh nooooo. I think Battery is a much better song. Throes of Rejection by Pantera is a better metal song too I think. Actually I like a lot of metal songs more than Fade to Black.

He's right though about those three albums. Kill Em' All is a good record but not a very good indication of what Metallica became. During the heyday of thrash metal though, that was a great album.

Check out Blackened and And Justice For All off of the And Justice For All album. Also get Battery off of Master of Puppets. Those are probably 3 of my favorite Metallica songs.

If you're going to just get started in metal now, do me a favor and download some Pantera. Get the song "Medicine Man" and "Cowboys From Hell" right now. If you like some of the older Metallica you will be able to appreciate it greatly.

keep it coming guys! goign to take a while but i got about a week before the DSL arrives. just downloaded No Leaf Clover with San Fran. Orchestra. and holy shit its good, its probably the 2nd best song ive heard. love it. does anyone know any rock songs thats simular to it?

edit: btw i AM new to rock and metal. i was into the stupid hip hop scene but it really gets fuckign annoying after a while.

No, not really unless you want to listen to some sort of operatic metal like 3 Inches of Blood. I don't think you'd like it though. I reccomended Pantera because most of their songs have a lot of heavy syncopation and nasty solos, almost like the heavy pounding bass in hip-hop.

ill check it out later. im downloading "One" now then ill try "Master of Puppets". 56k realy blows...

pantera can't hold melody and switch back and forth nowhere near as good as metallica.

Their lyrics are no where near as good
Their music isnt anywhere near as good
Their talent isnt anywhere near as good

I disagree. Dimebag Darell is a much better guitar player than anyone in Metallica. Vinny Paul, probably an on par drummer with Lars. Phil Anselmo sings with more emotion than James Hetfield, and neither band had a phenomenal bass player. I just think that Pantera's song are much more emotional, much harder, and they never once gave a shit about fame. They did their thing consistently throughout their whole career, and did it solely for the pleasure of playing music and having fans that enjoyed it.

Honestly, I think you should listen to even older Pantera before they had a serious record deal. The albums were kind of gay because they started as a hair metal/thrash band, but the guitar playing on "Metal Magic" is unreal. Also taking into account that Dimebag was about 17 when it was recorded. I still can't play as good as that and I'm 24 and have played in guitar in serious bands since I was 16. The guy was a phenom, plain and simple.

Dimebag Darell is a much better guitar player than anyone in Metallica. No, he wasn't, but at least he wasn't a sell-out.

neither band had a phenomenal bass player.Jason Newsted was far from shoddy and Cliff Burton, was... well... Cliff Burton.

I suspect you're one of the "new" Metallica fans. What was your first Metallica experience? Enter Sandman on Mtv? :D

Haha, no it was actually Kill Em' All, when I was 11. I've been a fairly serious metal guitarist since I was about 12 or 13, and have more or less heard it all. I've always stood by Dimebag as the best in the business though.

Metallica is the reason why I started playing guitar. I was listening to more ska music at the time but I always liked them and megadeath(until I heard Far Beyond Driven).

Orion is the best song they ever made in my opinion. I always play it for my jazz musician friends so they have some respect for Metallica. People always downplay their musical talent which IMHO shines on S&M. I think them playing with the San Fransico symphony orchestra made their sound so much bigger than it already is...though I think it could've been better with better arrangment.
