If anything it is a rip off of Hendrix, whom Stone Gossard routinely cites as a big influence on his music. Considering that SRV covered multiple Hendrix songs, I'd say that Hendrix was an influence for him as well.

I don't know if anything relating to Fallout Boy could every be referred to as a "classic".

Shit your right I forgot that SRV was a Hendrix's fan....But if you want to hear a bigger rip off then listen to Kenny Wayne shepherd's "Why we Cry".

But if you do hear SRV version of it you'll definitely hear PJ ripped off the sound at least.

in the sense of the the first of the misheard lyric videos that blew up and became popular. in no way is fallout boy will become classic.. because they would have to become good for that to happen

Consider this:

Yellow Ledbetter was a B-side to their very first album, "Ten", which was released in 1991. It was one of the bands first songs.

The official release of SRV's cover of Little Wing was on "The Sky is Cryin'", which was released in 1991 after he died.

Yea but chances are that SRV recording was done in the 80's....probably in the early 80's.

from WIKI

"Little Wing" is a song written by Jimi Hendrix. He first recorded the song on the 1967 album Axis: Bold as Love.

"Little Wing" is played using the unique chord/melody guitar style that Hendrix developed during his early career stints in rhythm and blues bands. In this style, the guitar sounds as though it is playing two parts. This is done by simultaneously playing multiple complementary notes, often parts of chords, and then changing a note within the chord to create a melodic effect. Other songs played in this style include "Life Without You" by Stevie Ray Vaughan, "The Boy From Seattle" by Steve Vai, "Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam, and "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. The unusual flanging sound of the lead guitar part is a result of the Doppler effect which is created using a rotating speaker cabinet, or Leslie speaker.

A song by the same name appeared on Neil Young's 1980 album, Hawks & Doves, but is a different song entirely.

Hendrix's studio version can be found on numerous compilation albums, including The Ultimate Experience (1993). He also performed the song in concert, and some of those recordings are available on CD, including The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

In his 90 live album, he actually sang it (JF)...was pretty funny when you hear it.

Come on now, during the Brian Jones years they were incredible. Even after that, Exile on Main Street is one of my favorite albums of all time. They have made quite an impression music.
