Queen 12-09-2008, 03:02 PM What are some you've seen recently? What'd you think?
I finally saw Full Metal Jacket - I liked it more than I expected to
Arsenic and Old Lace - hilaaaarious
I'm in the middle of Lawrence of Arabia right now.. not sure what to think yet
I've seriously got like a dozen more that I've bought and haven't watched yet; I'll try to keep updating this
Alex-7 12-09-2008, 05:23 PM Just watched City Of God and The Counterfiters and liked them both...
Other than that it's been a sting of bad ones.
Queen 12-09-2008, 08:46 PM post the bad ones too!
like I watched the 2nd Narnia the other night.. fuckin awful but at least entertaining
Gotta love university. Always managed to watch more movies than actually study. Anyway... last movie I saw was Tropic Thunder. Thought it was pretty clever but not as good as the hype would suggest.
Tofuball 12-10-2008, 07:26 AM post the bad ones too!
like I watched the 2nd Narnia the other night.. fuckin awful but at least entertaining
I never bothered to watch #2, I fell asleep for #1.
And I've only ever falling asleep for one other movie ever: Gone with the wind.
Queen 12-16-2008, 07:54 PM Gone w/ the Wind is AMAZING tyvm.. OUT OF MY THREAD
saw Inherit the Wind last night, about the Scopes Monkey Trial.. anyone seen?
BackyardSog 12-16-2008, 08:15 PM The new X-files = sucked
Babylon A.D = kept me entertained
Death Race = Fell asleep half way through it
Wanted = Enjoyed it and stayed entertained
Eagle Eye = kinda stupid but entertaining
The incredible hulk = stupid
I can keep going. It's pretty hard to find a good movie these days. I really want to see "Slumdog Millionare" and "Nixon/Frost".
City of God is a great movie. I saw that in the theater.
Herschel 12-17-2008, 03:25 AM Babylon A.D = kept me entertained
Really? I made the mistake of seeing that in the theater this summer and everyone in there wanted their money back after that piece of shit was over. This could have been a great movie, but it looked as if they cut it all to hell to make it fit a time frame. The ending was, BY FAR, the worst ending to a movie that I have seen in a loooooong time. I read some where that even the actors involved where ashamed to have been a part of such a turd. Considering that Vin Diesel was in it, that's saying something.
Queen 12-17-2008, 09:00 AM I've seen bits of it....arguments against evolution were insipid at that point
yeah, I don't know much about the actual trial or how it all went down tbh but the movie as a whole was great.. Spencer Tracy played it well and Gene Kelly's a stud
BackyardSog 12-17-2008, 10:38 AM Really? I made the mistake of seeing that in the theater this summer and everyone in there wanted their money back after that piece of shit was over. Well I don't think it was good. But I found it entertaining. The ending did blow. I heard 20th Century Fox studios made the director change or shorten the movie for what ever reason. He was pretty vocal about it. At first I wanted to see the movie in the theater until I read that he was upset about it.
oakback 12-17-2008, 11:17 AM I saw Bridge to Terabithia last night, it was surprisingly good, tugged at those heart strings. My wife cried (she doesn't do that for a movie often). I thought it was going to be more fantasy-ish, like Narnia, but that stuff was very limited in the movie. That girl will go far in her career, I'm sure (she was also the gum-chewer in the Willy Wonka with Johnnie Depp).
Also saw Meet the Robinsons, it was cute. As far as entertaining kids' movies, it's about on par with Robots.
Misty Rayne 12-19-2008, 03:55 PM ok i have seen
Dark Knight.................bloody brilliant, Heath deserves an oscar for it!!!!
Tropic Thunder...............total awesomeness
The Strangers..............very creepy
The Ruins...............very well done
oakback 12-22-2008, 12:26 PM Just saw Dan in Real Life, it was sorta good. Maybe kinda crappy. I wouldn't recommend it.
Watched Pirates of the Caribbean At World's End last night, man that was WAY too long, with a lot of pointless crap they could have done without (way-too-long scene with Jack Sparrow in the afterlife desert, or whatever it was), and weird plot holes (like the whole "Calypso" thing, wtf?). What a waste of time. I liked the first one, second one was ok, 3rd complete crap.
Misty Rayne 12-22-2008, 03:18 PM i liked the third one, but i wouldn't wanna see the 4th one
Fendamonky 12-26-2008, 05:10 PM I watched Boondock Saints again the other night. My room mate had never seen it, so I made him watch it. I fucking love that movie!
Misty Rayne 12-27-2008, 06:22 AM i just finished watching Tinman, it's a sequal to the wizard of oz specifically made for the sci fi channel, i loved it although it went over 2 nights i am not sure if i could sit through 6 hrs straight lol
SexyFirstLady 12-29-2008, 02:00 PM I saw THE SPIRIT.. it was alright, if you like that kinda stuff.. I found it funny
and I saw SEVEN POUNDS... GREAT MOVIE.. shit almost made me cry...., almost
oakback 01-02-2009, 09:00 AM "Don't Mess with the Zohan" was freaking stupid. I turned it off before finishing it. I honestly was looking forward to watching a typical, stupid-yet-funny Adam Sandler movie, and this was just retarded. I liked the beginning, with the comical military/fighting stuff, but I could do without a solid 30 minutes of him spraying water and banging old ladies. We get it, he has sex with them after cutting hair, how much of this is necessary?
Misty Rayne 01-03-2009, 04:24 PM i liked hell boy 2
BackyardSog 01-05-2009, 01:37 PM I saw a few movies during vacation.
The Wrestler - Best Movie I have seen in a while.
Defiance - Really good movie. It was kinda long but a wonderful story
Curious Case of Benjamin Button - I liked it. I thought it was going to be a little better though.
BackyardSog 01-05-2009, 08:55 PM i just watched "The Reader". It was depressing but Kate Winslet was incredible.
oakback 01-20-2009, 12:43 PM I recently saw Blood Diamond. Wow, I really enjoyed this, it was very intense. DiCaprio does a marvelous job.
My wife and I were questioning how well it was going to end, but it had a great ending.
Queen 01-21-2009, 01:29 PM I need to see that.. Leo's a douche but the man can act
sonofabelch 01-21-2009, 07:07 PM Somehow missed Planet Terror until yesterday........awesome stuff.
rinasings2u 01-23-2009, 05:53 PM Notoriuos great movie but I personaly think it could had a bit more impact! Still a good look for those of you that want to know the man behind the music!
BackyardSog 01-26-2009, 10:37 AM I watched Slumdog Millionare over the weekend. I thougt it was incredible. I would def give it best film of the year so far. I still need to see Milk and Frost/Nixon to seal the deal.
Queen 01-26-2009, 11:50 AM ^everyone I've talked to was blown away by it, but I haven't seen it yet
I watched Igor over the weekend.. lol soooo cute
I think I'm gonna do Burn After Reading tonight
I think I'm gonna do Burn After Reading tonight
You'll regret that...
Queen 01-26-2009, 06:48 PM pffft, since when have I been opposed to bad movies
Herschel 01-26-2009, 06:58 PM ^everyone I've talked to was blown away by it, but I haven't seen it yet

Is that the one where Brad Pitt plays a fitness coach or some such thing and they're extorting something or other?
Is that the one where Brad Pitt plays a fitness coach or some such thing and they're extorting something or other?
Yeah, it's so bad. Trust me, you will want the 95 minutes of your life back after that. Burn After Watching.
Herschel 01-26-2009, 07:43 PM Yeah, it's so bad. Trust me, you will want the 95 minutes of your life back after that. Burn After Watching.
Didn't it have a crap load of decent actors in it as well? I saw the trailers for it this past summer and it seemed like it would be ok.....shame.
Didn't it have a crap load of decent actors in it as well? I saw the trailers for it this past summer and it seemed like it would be ok.....shame.
Yeah, I'm with you there. I thought that it would be good as well because of the cast and directors/writers but it was so pointless. I kept waiting for it to start and then it ended.
Queen 01-27-2009, 01:29 AM pffft, it wasn't spectacular but I think the cast alone made it worth watching.. Brad Pitt was entertainment
Queen 01-27-2009, 01:38 AM TELL ME this is not hilarious

BackyardSog 01-27-2009, 02:08 PM Oh yeah I saw that POS movie. I had no idea thats what it was called. That scene Queen posted was pretty funny though.
oakback 02-05-2009, 09:22 AM We watched Eragon last night. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but as my wife pointed out, you tell it was adapted from a book. There are times when you can tell there's more going on, but they couldn't fit it in the movie.
We also got "Thank You for Smoking" in the mail yesterday. I didn't want to see it, but some friends said it was really good, so I figured we'd give it a shot.
Tofuball 02-05-2009, 11:58 AM Me and the wife-unit liked "Thank You for Smoking"
oakback 02-12-2009, 07:52 AM We watched Superbad on the Netflix instant stream. Pretty funny, I'd put it on par with Harold and Kumar.
Tofuball 02-12-2009, 09:16 AM Me and the wife unit watched Blood Diamond.
I'd have to say Hotel Rwanda was a great deal the better movie.
czarofzar 02-12-2009, 11:08 PM pffft,
overused. can we stop? thx
Misty Rayne 02-23-2009, 03:49 PM i watched max payne last night, i like the end when he was all drugged up and guns ablazing
has anyone seen twilight?? i know it's more of a teen movie but i saw it when i had no other choices at the cinema, it was pretty ok, i am now gonna read the books lol
Queen 02-23-2009, 09:15 PM anyone seen Be Kind Rewind? it has Jack Black and I got it for 5 bucks so I'm not expecting anything Oscar-worthy, but the premise sounds potentially amusing..
1revnrex 02-23-2009, 09:23 PM Watched The Grudge 3, if you like the Grudge movies watch it but be warned its low budget. You can find it on torrents as it hasnt been released in US theaters yet.
Herschel 02-24-2009, 01:39 AM anyone seen Be Kind Rewind? it has Jack Black and I got it for 5 bucks so I'm not expecting anything Oscar-worthy, but the premise sounds potentially amusing..
It's not the best movie I have ever seen, but it's not horrible either. JB is funny with almost anything he does and Mos Def isn't bad either. I'd say 5 bucks is a good deal.
Queen 02-24-2009, 01:56 PM okay I thought it was hilarious.. I couldn't breathe during the Ghostbusters part
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_M_3DBmne3M
oakback 02-24-2009, 02:21 PM My son got on our Netflix instant-download list, and added a whole bunch of kid movies to watch on the xbox.
Recently saw Surf's Up, with the surfing penguins. I thought it was going to be some low-budget crapfest riding on the (albeit short) coattails of Happy Feet.
Man was I wrong, I really liked it, there was some hilarious moments (especially when the old guy is teaching the kid how to carve a surfboard). Shiaeaaia LeBeiououf and Jeff Bridges do great.
I was unfortunate enough to catch a significant portion of "Baby Geniuses". Holy shit, I don't know where to start on this pathetic excuse for a movie. They're not babies, they're freaking toddlers (yet everyone acts like they're babies). And their "genius" voice and intelligence level is more like a 4-year-old. They obviously saved on budget by not actually showing the face of the "baby" that was speaking 90% of the time, and when they did the effects were worse than those freebie sites where you could upload your own pic and make the face talk. Yet somehow they had money left over for helicopters and police and shit at the end. The plot was horrific, it was like the script was translated from English to some random language, then translated back, using bad translation software. Just random crap here and there, horrible dialogue, just everything was, just, bad. I'm getting upset just writing this.
Queen 02-24-2009, 02:27 PM lol my grandmother loved Baby Geniuses which made me pretty certain that it was a steaming pile of shit.. but I never saw it
Anguissette 02-25-2009, 06:00 AM The Gods Must Be Crazy. Really watched it this time and actually enjoyed it. Also got Day Watch the other day... insane movie. I loved it.
Tofuball 02-25-2009, 06:14 AM Howl's Moving Castle.
Me and the wife liked it a lot, but they couldn't seem to figure out how to end the movie.
Watching "Click"... it makes my eyes moist.
Queen 02-25-2009, 10:16 PM watchin A Hard Day's Night right now
Anguissette 02-26-2009, 05:43 AM Legend anyone??? The version with Tangerine Dream contributing to the soundtrack and score is the only one that exists in my eyes...
Queen 02-26-2009, 08:51 PM aww I wanted to pinch their little Beatle cheeks
DeRFmAn 02-26-2009, 11:44 PM Speed Racer = the muthafuckinshiznitobamsnipsnapsack
also:
21 = awesome movie
Push = was an good movie, good not great
barneymcveigh 02-28-2009, 04:10 AM coraline in 3d - it was amazing.
religulously- pretty funny
choke- good
still waiting- get what you would expect from a straight to dvd flick
evolution- my friend insisted that i watch this and it was good. not as funny as he made it out to be though
those are the movies that i watched for the first time this week.
Anguissette 02-28-2009, 04:16 AM ...I just watched Eraserhead. Honestly, I don't know what to feel right now. *laughs*
Misty Rayne 02-28-2009, 04:38 AM "evolution wasn't as funny as he made it out to be"
that movie rocked, i laugh so hard every time i see it
Misty Rayne 02-28-2009, 04:52 PM i watched The House Bunny again last night, it's pretty funny, and i love anna faris!!!!!!
oakback 03-02-2009, 07:59 AM My wife found out about this site, tvshack.net, where you can watch lots of movies.
She's all into the Twilight books, so we watched that last night. I'm glad she didn't want to go to the theater to see it, it was alright, but not worth $8 (or whatever the ticket prices are jacked up to now).
Queen 03-08-2009, 11:00 PM I'm watching one with Mark Strong in it!
http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2008/08/29/body-of-lies-poster.jpg
oakback 03-09-2009, 11:58 AM I started watching Best in Show on my xbox/netflix, and fell asleep shortly into it. I was told it was funny, but it started out real slow. My wife said it was shitty so she turned it off, I woke up to Wubzy's Big Movie or something like that (my son watching it). As far as kids' shows go, it wasn't bad.
Alex-7 03-11-2009, 02:54 PM Can anyone tell me if Transporter 3 is worth renting?
95whitepep 03-11-2009, 07:05 PM I started watching Best in Show on my xbox/netflix, and fell asleep shortly into it. I was told it was funny, but it started out real slow. That was the biggest turd of a movie...I am dumber just for watching it. The reason why it was so popular was because it was all ad hoc...barely a script.
Tofuball 03-11-2009, 07:35 PM Watched "The Dark Knight"
Meh.
Misty Rayne 03-11-2009, 08:42 PM dark knight was meh, the only thing that movie really had going for it was Heath Ledger
Queen 03-11-2009, 08:43 PM Christian Bale annoys me so much.. I couldn't even sit through like 15 min of Batman Begins
Christian Bale annoys me so much.. I couldn't even sit through like 15 min of Batman Begins

czarofzar 03-11-2009, 09:20 PM Get out!
yup, hey why not stop the leg humping and ask to park your car in queens garage?
Queen 03-11-2009, 09:39 PM this is MY thread, motherfucker
Queen 03-11-2009, 09:41 PM I'm about to watch this, but I have a feeling it won't be as epic as the DVD cover :(

your sig makes no sense
Queen 03-11-2009, 09:43 PM you caught on quickly
What did you think of Body of Lies?
Queen 03-11-2009, 09:51 PM fine at first but then it got boring.. not as good as you would expect DiCaprio + Crowe to be
I thought it was pretty good. Although the end was anti-climatic.
Anyway, enjoy Blame it on the Rain?
Queen 03-11-2009, 10:02 PM damn you for getting that song in my head
Queen 03-11-2009, 11:03 PM this is the funniest movie I have ever seen.
Misty Rayne 03-11-2009, 11:16 PM My name is Bruce is funny, i love Bruce Campbell and will pretty much watch anything he is in
95whitepep 03-12-2009, 12:20 AM damn you for getting that song in my head
At least its not Chocolate Rain
Alex-7 03-12-2009, 12:52 AM Can anyone tell me if Transporter 3 is worth renting?
Well I rented it and it was fucking stupid.
Damn this tiny forum.
Misty Rayne 03-12-2009, 01:22 AM is the fast and the furious 3 any good, hubby said he saw previews and it looked ok
Alex-7 03-12-2009, 02:56 PM Don't think it's out here yet.
I'm sure it won't be good. I'll probably rent it someday though.....
Tofuball 03-13-2009, 12:39 PM I've been avoiding F&F3. If it has a single redeeming quality, lemme know ;)
Queen 03-13-2009, 01:52 PM oh i forgot to mention that I watched Australia at some point too.. horrible, but not that I expect any of you to want to watch it :P
oakback 03-13-2009, 02:39 PM Yeah, judging from the previews it looked pretty horrible.
I have Pineapple Express (via netflix) waiting for me at home, I'm looking forward to watching that.
Queen 03-13-2009, 06:31 PM I am soooo excited about this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkqzFUhGPJg
czarofzar 03-13-2009, 06:32 PM why?
oakback 03-17-2009, 08:21 AM I have Pineapple Express (via netflix) waiting for me at home, I'm looking forward to watching that.
Wow, it surprised me how un-good it was. There were some really funny parts, and I liked the story, but damn it was long and drawn out way more than necessary. They showed all the funniest/best parts on the previews, I hate that.
barneymcveigh 03-18-2009, 01:25 PM isnt up going to be in 3d? if it is im definetly gonnna go watch it.
Queen 03-18-2009, 01:47 PM omg that would make it even better.. I hope so
I've recently watched Milk (pretttty good, I'm not a huge Penn fan but he pulled it off) and Kung Fu Panda, which was cute but nothing special as far as those movies go
czarofzar 03-18-2009, 07:37 PM stay out of the mother fucking religion section, queen. I saw you in there.
Queen 03-19-2009, 01:50 PM My son got on our Netflix instant-download list, and added a whole bunch of kid movies to watch on the xbox.

watched that last night.. was better than I expected as well! the baby penguins didn't hurt either
Anguissette 03-19-2009, 03:28 PM Saw Watchmen with the boys from work last night and really enjoyed the movie...
I'm not typically into glowing blue bald guys, but Dr. Manhattan was a colossal man-mountain of awesomeness. *sigh*
Queen 03-30-2009, 07:38 PM I saw Monsters vs Aliens 3D and thought it was amazing because I am easily entertained any time I'm wearing 3D glasses
and holy crap was this thing all cute and stupid
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_2GMlhUrYuhI/SbyY7RW8eWI/AAAAAAAAGvo/lMZYlNg5gRI/s400/Monsters_Vs_Aliens_Insectosaurus_Pic.jpg
Misty Rayne 03-30-2009, 08:38 PM i watched mirrors the other day, it wasn't that bad
Anguissette 04-11-2009, 09:25 PM Sunshine. Anyone who is relatively into sci fi should probably watch this. Queen, you said you were into sci fi books, but try to check out this movie... If you don't like it, you can kill me later. I pinky swear.
oakback 04-16-2009, 01:13 PM tvshack.net ftw
I watched Lord of War, it was pretty good. Nicolas Cage is sometimes iffy, but he did well in this one.
Also saw Silence of the Lambs for the first time, it was alright I suppose. Jody Foster's constantly-worried expression always annoys me.
Anguissette 04-16-2009, 04:13 PM Also saw Silence of the Lambs for the first time, it was alright I suppose. Jody Foster's constantly-worried expression always annoys me.
Heh. It puts the lotion on the skin or it gets the hose again!!!
I love Hannibal Lecter...cannibalistic tendencies aside. Out of the three other movies made, I think Hannibal is my fav. I love the odd relationship/obsession Julianne Moore and Anthony Hopkins share onscreen.
oakback 04-17-2009, 07:40 AM Just remembered I also watched 16 Blocks earlier this week. I really liked it. It has the typical cop-show running-camera-man feel, but it works here, since it's pretty much a footrace over a section of the city. No over-the-top action; no pistol shots from 200 yards or jumping from one building to another, just good stuff.
Gone w/ the Wind is AMAZING tyvm.. OUT OF MY THREAD
I watched part of this on TV. Then I realized how long it was. I don't want to watch a movie that requires 2 meal breaks.
Queen 04-18-2009, 03:16 PM lol it's definitely a chick movie.. I don't know many dudes who have the attention span or desire to watch character struggles for 4 hours, but it's the best when it comes to something like that.. very powerful movie if you can sit still through it. I was actually like hysterically crying at the end of it the first time I watched it ;x
trying to remember what I've watched recently...
Seven Pounds - I liked it.. moving and it makes you think.. worth watching but Pursuit of Happyness was better
21 Grams - hmmm, Naomi Watts was good, and the interactions between the characters were.. different.. but it overdid the whole jumping-between-scenes thing
Tale of Despereaux - cuuuuute, and that's all it takes for me =D
Michael Clayton - I haven't been able to sit through this one yet, lol.. very slow moving and I wasn't in the mood for that when I tried to watch it. but I keep hearing it's good and it does seem like it has potential, so I'll try again at some point
Misty Rayne 04-18-2009, 05:28 PM Journey to the Center of the earth= really cool, sweet family film
Speed Racer=wicked
Quarantine= pretty good, hand held camera action but still fairly decent
Madgascar2= watched most of it seems to be as cool as the first one
StTrinnyens= was funny Russell Brand Rocks
um i am sure i have watched more it's just too early to think
Queen 04-18-2009, 06:04 PM did you watch the 3D version of Journey to the Center of the Earth?!
it's so awesome that it actually makes Brendan Fraser tolerable
seems like everyone likes every single movie that they watch.
Queen 04-18-2009, 07:27 PM I just caught the Hylian Loach.. I'm too good to talk to you peons right now
Anguissette 04-18-2009, 08:22 PM HA! Zelda much? I can't believe you just used the word 'peons.'
Misty Rayne 04-19-2009, 03:26 AM no i didn't queen cos i don't have blu ray
i don't hire a movie (90% of the time) unless i am pretty sure i am gonna like it
Queen 04-27-2009, 01:53 PM I finally got around to seeing Slumdog Millionaire.. definitely way up there on my list, though I'm sure I've been slightly influenced by all the brown folk I seem to hang around
Cosby 04-27-2009, 03:14 PM Indians are annoying and that movie was stupid.
