which is better?

The only difference being the MR11 housing is anodized black and the MR16 housing is polished aluminum.

going on my snowmobile.

Leaning towards the MR11 since they will match the rest of my sled with the black ano.

Anodized.

why are you asking us?
I was merely asking which light was better, as in brighter, better power usage, durability, etc.

edit:

ordered the MR11 anyway because of the anodizing.

Are they both HID?

MR11 and MR16 are styles of HID. So yes, they are both HID.

The new headlight setup on the snowmobile is going to be one amber halogen for low beam and two of the MR11 HID's for the high beam. Might even wire it up so that the halogen stays on for the high as well.

Well, HIDs are the way to fly if you don't mind the expense.

Don't those things take a while to warm up in the cold?

Not that long, a couple of seconds as far as I can tell. Mine take maybe 15 seconds, but I'll take that for the added distance and clarity they provide me.
