dano670 05-02-2008, 06:54 AM I have a small desk in my apartment, and behind it was a framed mirror. I thought it was secured to the wall. I was wrong. It was leaning against the wall and to give myself more room to work, I pushed the monitor back to far, so the mirror became almost vertical.
Friday night a friend came over and we were drinking wine before we went out. I left my glass on the desk. When I walked in the apartment Saturday, the movement of opening the door was all the mirror needed to fall forward. It fell onto the monitor which fell onto the glass. You can see the red wine stain on my desk.
It was a 20 wide screen :-(

Since I couldn't just replace it, I had to uprgade. With the exchange rate it was a little pricey, but I might get back the VAT on it.
Replacement is a 22" Samsung

And the mirror will no longer be benhind the monitor.
Damn, I spelled catastrophe wrong!

Monitor: 0
When is round 2?
dano670 05-02-2008, 07:11 AM I hope not anytime soon. All of the mirror glass is in the trash. Good thing is I can still use part of the old monitor, all I need is a video card.
Vert8813B 05-02-2008, 07:34 AM Factory warranty for the original monitor. Claim that all of a sudden this happened and get it repaired. Buy insurance and ship the package to them. When it gets there and they call or send it back due to it being damaged, claim the insurance. You getz moneyz backz.
dano670 05-02-2008, 07:42 AM Well I bought the monitor in the US a few years back, the warranty is up. And I am currently in Paris, so I think I am SOL.
Vert8813B 05-02-2008, 07:55 AM Yep. SOL indeed.

Man, first you tell the guilty to plead not guilty, now fraud? You're full of great advice :P
Vert8813B 05-02-2008, 08:57 AM Obviously you know very little about the legal system in this country. Do you plead guilty to every ticket you get Tofu?
Also, I was joking about the monitor.
dano670 05-02-2008, 10:53 AM I thought you were joking too.

I know you were joking :P
If I'm guilty of something, I'll admit it.
If I'm not, I'll say I'm not and no one ever believes me.
It's pretty cool the way that works out.

Tofuball 05-02-2008, 01:07 PM Learn about telling the truth, and how it is different from a lie. :P
Vert8813B 05-02-2008, 01:11 PM Who are you to say it's a lie? If I get pulled over for 59 in a 45 but I felt like I was doing 57, I'm pleading not guilty. If I was stressed that day I got the ticket, I'm pleading not guilty due to the high blood pressure causing my leg to go down on the accelerator pedal a little bit more. Lying and defending ones self in a court of law where the burden of proof is on the prosecutor are two totally different things.

wotnartd 05-02-2008, 01:45 PM You say "not guilty," even if you are. It's just what you do. Because then you get a trial.
