got a 1/2" and was trying to get axle nuts off with a 3' breaker bar, and it twisted the end with little ball where socket pops onto..it twisted and cracked, so now i can return that one since its got a lifetime warranty, but I need a 1"...who has one?

ive got a 2 foot bar, but its 1/2 inch drive. u have 1/2 inch sockets ? what size are the axle nuts i prob have a socket for them

our impact gun isnt strong enough...it got the driver side off, but not doing crap on the passenger side..

Well you could just use mine considering it torques over 400+ ft-lb. You've seen me take off the 2 3/4" nut on the 13Bs. Also, you should be be able to remove the hub nut much easier than you're saying. I'd also make sure you have the lock tab all the way out and if thats not the problem, take a torch to the threads to heat off any locktite. Be careful not to overheat the inside.

actually, u put heat on the nut, allowing it to expand slightly and will also melt any locktite that might be on it. i've used heat on many things from removing stubbern nuts and bolts to making pressed in ball joints easier to hammer out. the last time i helped a guy remove front axle nut was on a subaru bratt, he broke an axle playing in the mud. we worked at a place that had it's own maintainence shop and we used a giant adjustable wrench. that sucker was massive, and long enough without the use of a breaker bar.

and one other thing. running into problems with a project like this is inevitable....and ur just getting started. have fun.

got it...used a grinder and a pair of safety glasses..:)...got it off...i have another one to replace it so it wasnt a big deal and i didnt trash the threads on axle either...i grinded it in half, and then hit with hammer and chisel thingy....this ismy break....now i am going back out to drop tranny..

i started yesterday at 3 and quit at 4, and got stuck with the axles pretty much as soon as i started so had to call it a day cause i had to work at 6, started this morning at around 10, and had tranny dropped about 2 off....so its not like i worked 2 whole days..had 4-5 hours..not bad for a beginner..:)

maybe ill send it to another shop to have them finish the job..;)
