No I dont have it

When I got back from my trip my new girlfriend didn't wanna give me a kiss, she's got "A cold sore I dont wanna give you"

Now being the 'glass half full' kinda guy I am I'm expecting a full on case of herpes. And I haven't had the balls to ask weather or not it is yet. So, I can read facts all day on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herpes_simplex_virus but I wanted to get some real life knowledge. How nasty is this shit really? How easy is it to catch, etc?

Cold sores are hereditary...and they are recessive so both your parents have to have them to get passed on. Herpes as you know it is a different type then the Herpes which causes cold sores.

From my experience a cold sore is not communicable to your pecker or a womens vagina.

the kind that causes cold sores is not the kind that causes genital herpes

Well that helps, but still. A LIFE LONG viral infection of the nervous system? sounds shitty, poor girl.

if you've ever had chicken pox you have a "life-long" viral infection of the nervous system..

Uh, well, I've never had chicken pox. Got the shots when I was a kid and never got it. Kinda paranoid about that now, considering it can be deadly to adults and I think the shot only last 10 years?

Well I was hopeing for some "real world" info. Stuff a medical website cant provide. Such as "My buddy got it from so and so, its some nasty shit" or "I've got it, it really isn't as bad as it sounds/ hard to transmit" etc.

My 19 year old classmate got chickenpox back in January and had the bumps all over his face and arms. He still has remnants of them through scaring until now, it's as if he got hit with an acne virus that won't go away

Chicken pox and shingles, are of the same virus and type as herpes, and we ALL have had chicken pox.

Those viruses lay dormant in you body, and sometimes when injury occurs will flare up. Shingles hurt like a bitch, all thanks to Chicken pox....

Now thats exactly the kinda stuff I was looking for, thanks buddy :bigthumb:

I did ask her if she's got any sort of medical condition and she said no, but that seems a bit odd. And I dont have the balls to ask "so, you got herpes or what?

I have a friend...

Ah, well tell your "friend" that its a virus. So I guess it's possible, but who gets surgery at a hospital without a decently clean operation table?

yes queen, she is only 18 and very naive about it, i think this guy is her first serious boyfriend,

possible?... technically... probable?... not at all. and if it did happen then he would have sued for millions. thats why hospitals have insurance.

Rodney, it's hardly a condition. carmex and a week and you wouldn't know any different. she does have the herps and if she's cool enough then maybe you can joke about it. if not then stay away from the jokes and always be 100% supportive.
