91lx 11-05-2005, 01:51 AM Need a beater so I don't have to drive the convertible all winter. Only want to spend $1,000 or so. Sold my '93 Civic auto because it was insanely slow... Only good thing is that I could dog the hell out of it and it would only drop to 30mpg average per tank. What do you guys think: 95-up Neon, 92-95 Civic, 93-97 Corolla, 95-99 Sentra, or anything else really cheap... fairly new... prefferably not domestic or automatic. RX7_2ner 11-05-2005, 01:55 AM Buy a 90-94 protege. Mine takes its daily beating quite well. $100T2 11-05-2005, 08:02 AM 1st gen Eclipse. My old one got 35 mpg, and was decent in the snow. RoadRaceJosh 11-05-2005, 09:13 AM Shit, I wish my Talon got 35 MPG, but then it would probably be slow. rtryb2200 11-05-2005, 09:40 AM Even when I beat the hell out of my pos 97 civic I still average 33-37 mpg in town. I picked mine up with a salvage title for 1500 bucks, no rust, yet. Say No To Pistons 11-05-2005, 09:51 AM 0 votes for civic lol. i say protege. Alex-7 11-05-2005, 11:05 AM I voted coroll. Though neons are DIRTY cheap, and there is that incesent rumor that they handle well. Carbine 556 11-05-2005, 03:54 PM im with doc, get a 1st gen eclipse 91lx 11-05-2005, 04:34 PM would rather have an econo sh!t box instead of a girlie ride. c00lduke 11-05-2005, 05:24 PM S14 240sx 91lx 11-06-2005, 04:12 AM if you can find one for 1k'ish ... with working heat & ac... id probably buy it. 91lx 11-06-2005, 04:12 AM the s14... not the eclipse. RX7_2ner 11-06-2005, 05:05 AM get a 90-94 protege lx or 91-94? escort gt. they both run high 15's stock and can be made turbo easily. rtryb2200 11-06-2005, 08:23 PM My gf old 94 corrolla was a pile of shit it only got around 25 mpg and was a dog aznpoopy 11-06-2005, 08:51 PM out of the options you listed, the civic is probably the best. |
