hey guys

i need an engine stand!

the problem is, i don't know shit about them. help me out!

engine - ka24de
budget - as cheap as possible without being extremely shitty
needs - reliable (aka won't snap in two), can roll easily, can rotate, decent height so i'm not squatting as i rebuilt this pos.

i noticed some go for as little as $40. some others are expensive as $600.

i don't need fancy shit but i do need something functional that i can keep in my room. any recommendations?

Go for a cheapy, they work fine.

Buy locally to avoid shipping.

Go pick one up at advance auto. I got one from there a couple of years ago. They're hard to break. What you need to make sure of is that you get one that is versatile enough to use on a multitude of engines.

You're rebuilding a motor in your bedroom? You do realize that is a defining characteristic of white trash correct?

The ~$50 Pep Boys/Schuck's engine stands work just fine. Mine is shown below... after about $100 in sand blasting and powder coating and ~$60 in stainless hardware to make it more durable and change it from red to black. :D

I also recommend the JAZ engine stand drip pan.

drip pans are really nice but they can get in the way

equipment definitely looks good! not to mention clean enough to eat off of.

if its good enough for your expensive motor; it's definitely good enough for my $100 ka24de! i definitely gotta hit up pepboys and check it out. thanks for the advice.

I also have the Moto-Feet (Bill Mitchell (http://shop.theengineshop.com/dr/v2/ec_MAIN.Entry10?V1=425423&PN=1&SP=10023&xid=42186&CID=145273&DSP=&CUR=840&PGRP=0&CACHE_ID=145273)) "engine stand" which allows you to mount a flywheel, clutch, and transmission on the engine and still roll it around.

I have a 2000 lb capacity stand from Harbor Freight. I bought it as it has two legs instead of one. I once had a 6 cylinder fall over and I wanted something more stable.
