Say No To Pistons 09-19-2006, 01:37 PM MY desktop refuses to boot. once i get the Windows professional loading screen the blue screen pops out. it saids "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME". i tried resetting my mootherboard which resets my CPU clock speeds to 800mhz (i have an overclocked athlon xp mobile on the desktop) and everything else is resetted too. i tried safe mode and the same blue screen popped out. i tried windows repair (with the cd) and it wouldnt do anything.. it just said "type exit to exit and restart your computer".... can anyone help? i got some important HW documents saved on it (and otehr stuff too :P )... Hades12 09-19-2006, 01:45 PM Sounds like the boot sector is dead or the Drive is dead, Load and extra drive and then attach this one as a secondary to see if you can get to the docs. MazdaTed 09-19-2006, 02:01 PM Are you still having problems after you tryed to reset your computer to get a new IP? And when did say no to stalking come about? I somehow miss everything. Animal 09-19-2006, 06:48 PM fuck windows www.damnsmalllinux.org (http://www.damnsmalllinux.org) it's got NTFS utilities in there (Even an administrator password viewer). Boot off that CD, mount the HD (Probably be hda1 if it's master on your first IDE bus). Find the docs you want, load 'em into "CD Burner" (It's in Linux, comes with the distro, supports almost every CD/DVD writer) and burn away. Once the documents/prefs/certificates/registry is backed up, wipe the disk (Zero it if cfdisk allows you to) and do a fresh install. That process saved about $100,000 in test data from my old job, computer had a problem quite similar to what you're describing. Say No To Pistons 09-19-2006, 07:53 PM ^ LOL.. i just want to get my computer running tonight so i can finish a project... i got my chemestry project and reference table in there.. Animal 09-20-2006, 12:41 AM Well, sounds like you're fucked then. That's why I don't trust windows anymore. When I was going through iBook logic boards at UW, I used windows on the lab pc's. Those pieces of shit would eat my documents for no apparent reason. Then I found the Mac lab in the education building, and spent a lot of time there. Say No To Pistons 09-20-2006, 05:47 AM Its working again.. ran check disk manually when i entered recovery consol. Hades12 09-21-2006, 08:24 AM Its working again.. ran check disk manually when i entered recovery consol. Its a trap. ascorbic 12-05-2006, 09:50 AM I would reset the master boot record. There are tools on the windows install cd. Boot into the recovery console. |
