So i have to do a senior project in order to graduate. Im currently fighting with the english teacher and the head of the english department to let me do something revolving around cars, but in order to do that i have to have everything laid out by tomorrow. My project its self is going to be on suspension design, and the product will be making a strut tower bar.

......But i have to write a 10-12 page paper on a controversy that involves cars. And it needs to be something i can find plenty of information on. So im hoping someone on here can give me some help so i can do mine on cars. Thanks.... ash

ALternate Energy is full of controversy. Biodiesel can be made from otherwise inedible crops and add no net carbons, but because emissions still come out the tailpipe (even though far less than conventional petrodiesel) is still seen as a 'pollutant'. Hydrogen is being hailed as a magic bullet, but it's simply an energy transport medium - it takes energy to make the H, then transport the liquid H, then convert the H back to electricity. Its efficiency isn't great and it requires billions in new infrastructure, yet has several big-money backers.

Electric cars, like hydrogen, still require energy to create their power source.

If you do want to do your project on suspension, you could talk about the history of suspension refinements, from leaf-spring, solid axle buggies to Lotus type active suspension, with macpherson struts, etc. thrown in and present the sides of the arguement that strut tower bars stiffen the front frame, thereby keeping cornering forces in the moving parts of the suspension, not bending sheetmetal, and the counterpoint that suspension force is verticle and a strut tower bar, tying laterally, does little to anchor the top of the tower and is therefor of little use.
