A beautiful kid of yesterday is losing the battle of drugs and crime. We are asked to write an encouraging letter to the 18 year old as he awaits trial of his third offense.

And what if you had a loved one like the one in my situation, how shall you write to keep his chin up? can you help me write this letter to this boy?

Thank you,
czar

it's hard czar, my brother has been in trouble mainly since the age of 13, he has done a couple of stints in jail (he is now only 22) i feel sorry for him because i know the life we had made him what he is today, yet i am still hurt and angry over the things he has done to me because of all i did trying to help him. I have no idea what you could possibly write to your nephew except give him you love and support and just to let him know you are there for him.

Sorry, but I typically don't feel sorry for people that fuck up on their own accord. Blame anything you want, but you are the master of your own destiny. If someone can't get their shit together, that is their own fault.

writing to him to spread his cheeks or tell him things he already knows isn't worth the time to write to him. Anyone really want to give it a go?

I never met him nor talked to him. I don't even think he knows i exist. But i am his uncle by a marriage and maybe i can actually help. I too say he should do time. not by his fault, but to his recovery.

Maybe write..."here's to the path of recovery. Give yourself a chance."

i do understand where you are coming from however there can be extenuating circumstance to why some one becomes the way they are, i have unfortuantly seen if first hand.

If anything, people seem to get worse in there.

Tell him to lay low stay out of trouble while in there and try and get him to realize that he should sever ties with the ones that got him where he is. That the only one who can make his life better is himself, and that when he gets out not to be angry at the situation. anger will only make it worse.

Ark2
08-02-2008, 12:26 PM
yeah, all this is great advice! especially coming from someone that he doesn't even know (let alone have met) in letter form. Fuck, drop the sesame street bullshit. Best case scenario, he gets absolutely reamed realizes that prison is not somewhere that he wants to be.

^^wow, way to be a good christian, you really are a douche. thats really all i can say is you are a douche. that is so douchy of you ... lol douchy

He is just wanting to keep his nephew's spirits up. There is nothing wrong with that. He never said that he didn't deserve it, didn't try to make up excuses. Just wanting to keep his spirits up. What a bunch of douche bags some of you are.

Ark2
08-02-2008, 01:39 PM
Is that all you've got? Way to be a good Christian? News flash for you moron, I'm not a Christian, so try your butthurt yzf rebuttals somewhere else.

Do you send letters to people in prison that you don't know to try and "keep their spirits up"? I'm going to assume that you're not a complete fucking idiot and say no. Why is that? Probably because a letter from a stranger ain't going make one iota of difference, so spare us all the sunshine and lolipops bullshit.

I see a bleak future for this young man... To the game he'll stay a slave.

And fwiw, the kid got himself into this shit, it's up to him to decide to change, and get himself out. He'll get no pity from me.

If ya really want to help him than offer to let him move in with you when he gets out. Get his ass up and out of the town/city he comes from. A complete shift in location, severing all your roots, is the best way to make a personal change/quit something... I stopped smoking (after four years of a pack or two a day) cold turkey (no patch, no gum, nothing) when I moved from Virginia to the UK.

Some kid related to you (who you've never met) is a fuck-up. Simple as that. You think he's going to give a shit about some hippy love letter you send him?

If he wants to fix his life than *he* needs to do it, not you. Sending him some bleeding heart pen-pal starter won't do shit.

thx fenda for putting on the Captain Obvious costume. Those spandex's are you.

I'm finding that this 'charge' is difficult for most of you. Not due to lack of character since I think you all are good people, but lack of experience. Never give up when things look bleak. Who knows, a simple letter may be all that is needed to change a direction. It has all been done before. Got any ideas?

I think the whole idea of trying to reach out to a repeat offender is ghey. Which is why I asked about the sudden sugar in your step in that other thread czar.

Life experience says that if you fuck up, you need to man up, accept and abide by your punishment and learn from your mistake (aka, NOT do it again). Blaming the environment you are in for your actions only goes so far.

This kids obviously grown up enough to commit crimes, his happy ass should be big enough to realize what's not good for him and remove it from his life.

Your approach of "lets just give him love, he'll come around" is the polar opposite of how things actually play out, based off of what I have experienced many, many, many times in my life. That's personal experience talking. I'm plenty compassionate, but if he doesn't give a fuck, than I don't give a fuck.

ok, let me try it this way

I think the whole idea of trying to reach out to a repeat offender is ghey. Which is why I asked about the sudden sugar in your step in that other thread czar..
my intent is to write something so compelling, the direction it shows stays vivid in his mind. no hand outs. no sleep overs. no money. no over the phone conversations. no cake. no further contact etc etc etc.

Life experience says that if you fuck up, you need to man up, accept and abide by your punishment and learn from your mistake (aka, NOT do it again). Blaming the environment you are in for your actions only goes so far. .
I'm sure he knows that
