Ok, seriously: Could that work? Could you really build a bike with those big ass tires? I know they built a real "Tumbler" and had it up to 45 or so... The bike, is it feasible? And if so, can we all plan and build one?

Absolutely not. You'll notice the tires on this Moto GP riders bike:

See how he's turning? Yah... :)

This guy has the biggest motorcycle tires/wheels anyway, anything else is pale in comparison.

The thing with motorcycles is that the narrower the tire, the better it will corner. The wider the tire, the better straight line traction is. With dirtbikes anyway.

The bat bike could be made, but would it actually corner worth a shit? Thats the question...

Imagine if you wanted just a cruising bike. Couldn't you in theory put that big ass 12 inch wide chopper wheel out back, and like an 8 inch wide wheel up front? Yeah, it wouldn't handle like a sport bike, but you could do it, right?

Sure, guys build chops all the time with 300mm rears.

But I'm talking about also having a really, really wide tire up front, too. Like a 200.

Wouldnt it really depend on the amount of convex it has

Yah narrow rim and wide tire wrapped on it.

Yah narrow rim and wide tire wrapped on it.That'll only help to a point though. A tire can only flex so much before it won't be able to stay on the rim.

All you have to think about as to your 200 front idea is how shitty most choppers turn as is. One way to remedy it is to narrow the axle to axle length, but the narrower that gets the harder it is to keep stable, etc etc blah blah...

It's interesting how he's turning, though. He's leaning the bike and using the narrow tread on either side to turn.

Still wouldn't work. Movie magic, my friends.

Yep. I heard that Heath Ledger wouldn't get out of the creepy joker character even when not filming.. which would maybe help in the explanation of his early demise.

When Michael Kaine was on Leno, he said as soon as they were done with a take, he was happy go lucky.

My brother is friends with the stunt rider from that movie. He said he needed to put the tires on edge before he could turn it.

I know there are some guys who do build "fat boy" style bikes with a 280 rear tire and a 180 or 190 front tire, im not sure of the measurements of the front wheels. But I know they dont use radically raked or stretched front ends, so its not as hard to turn.

Steel

wide tires aren't a problem, as long as they're round. Big wide flat tires like on the bat bike... well.. yeah, doesn't work for a bike.

See, I don't like raked or stretched front ends. I'm talking about a cruising bike.

yeah, but if you have a 200mm front end, its still going to turn like a bike with a front end two miles out.
