Supper 02-23-2006, 08:40 AM ...
okay, its a 2005 XR 650R.
the CR 500 would have been smoked on the bottom end, but could have possibly held its own on the top end depending on gearing.
I know this because I have raced CR 500's with my 650. Sure, the CR and the XR are compairable numbers wise, and the CR is a lot lighter, but the XR's power is in the torque, and the CR's power is in the powerband where it had a 15 hp jump in ~ 1,500 rpm.
and I'm buying a '99 CR 500 in a month or so :wiggle:
edit: just FYI, the XR 650R wasn't put into production until 2000 or 2001, until then it was still the XR 600R ;)
Supper 02-23-2006, 08:41 AM I'm going to take a wild guess and say that is a '98 model
I'm partial to two stroke motocrossers myself, rode them for about 12 years, we even built our own track with double jumps, but if you're going to go 4 stroke, this is the only way to fly

fuck the 450's.
They still haven't fixed anything on the valve train, though they only suffer really bad when run in race conditions being revved to the sky for an entire moto.
and doubly fuck the shim and buckets :banghead:
Supper 03-03-2006, 06:40 PM um, in a 1/4 mile race, your four stroke boat anchor would have been smoked, no contest....my 500 was ported and race piped (FMF), and likely made close to 70 hp, plus, as you said, they are considerably lighter, a CR500 weighs, what? 230 lbs?
http://sidecase2.tripod.com/1988reviewpages/1988reviewmain.htm
with just a pipes and a port job I doubt that you were pushing 70hp
1999 HONDA CR500R
It was once the king of the Open class. But then the kingdom slowly withered away. The CR500R remains as a current artifact in the fossil record, showing us how much dirt bikes have changed in 10 or so years. Compared to modern MX bike, it’s cumbersome and sometimes scary. At least it’s less of a brute than the KX500. The one area where 500cc two-strokes still have a place is in the desert and going up steep, sandy hills. Tested in the April 1999 issue.
TEST BIKE WEIGHT: 233 lb.
PEAK HORSEPOWER: 56 hp @ 5800 rpm
Supper 03-03-2006, 08:30 PM I'm still waiting for you to produce a dyno sheet of a ported 500 pushing 70hp to the rear wheel. Then, and only then, will I believe you.
meddle 03-03-2006, 08:32 PM Yea, but your FD is still a slow bucket.
meddle 03-03-2006, 09:39 PM ha, I'll race your pos mustang any day....win easily....and look better doing it
You'd have to be man enough to bring your pille to a track first.
rtryb2200 03-03-2006, 11:21 PM oooo, the drag strip? where your redneck coon ass might get down the 1/4 mile a tick faster in your bad ass turbocharged shitbucket boat anchor 88 mustang?
LOL
you're a joke....really
come on out to VIR, where I would lap you so fast your head would spin, on the R1 or in FD
If he was a coon then wouldn't he be black? We all know that Meddle isn't black
How about you go to the drag strip with him then he races the FD at VIR? Then everyone is happy:)
meddle 03-04-2006, 05:50 AM oooo, the drag strip? where your redneck coon ass might get down the 1/4 mile a tick faster in your bad ass turbocharged shitbucket boat anchor 88 mustang?

Mark why would I take my hoosier QT and skinnies car to VIR? Why don't you post videos of your car @ the track pulling bus lengths on anyone who lines up? You already posted that you eat mustangs for lunch. Lets see what your PFC/stock turbo shitbox combo can do. Your car is a fucking joke. High school kids run better FD setups than you. I've got a t2 parked here righyt now that will eat your playskool car for lunch on the wastegate.
meddle 03-04-2006, 01:45 PM WHO GIVES A SHIT?
Obviously oyu do.
It's only a mindless straight line to an internet bench racer such as yourself. Again, post vids of you dominating at the track this summer. I want to see you put your stock ass FD on the bumper.
$100T2 03-04-2006, 05:30 PM my '88 CR500 would have eaten that thing for lunch :)
Isn't there something in the Bible about constant bragging?

bump for a bench racing internet jockey.
jimlab 03-07-2006, 06:15 AM I did a 9.80 pass in my buddy's big block '68 camaro about 15 years ago, but that doesn't really count since it wasn't my carAnd because you just made the story up on the fly...
So you're telling us that you had an NHRA competition license at the time and were running 9s consistently? Or did your buddy just let you jump in a 9-second car because you were such a great driver and you managed a 9-second pass on your first outing? After all, drag racing is just that easy...
In a long line of "I'm the best at everything I do" posts, this one is easily the most ridiculous. Next you'll be telling us that your master carpenter/police hero father taught you to drive 9s at age 10.
what's your best pass down the stip? 12s? LOL$5 says you don't even have a 12-second time slip to your name.
2ndGen.Rocket 03-07-2006, 07:36 AM Someone must have forgotten just how hard it is to run a 9 second pass. 15 years ago no less.
rx-7_Z06 03-07-2006, 02:33 PM Maybe he meant to say 5 years ago? :dunno:
lolz. :evillaugh
jimlab 03-07-2006, 09:33 PM nopeWhy bother? Your credibility is already shot.
this was Lapeer "International" Dragway, ha, no one was checking licenses....but the car was equipped with a roll cage, fire extinguisher, etc. and I was wearing a helmet....all legalAnd a fire suit. Surely you remember putting on a fire suit.
is IS that easyNo, it isn't, as anyone who had actually spent any time drag racing would confirm.
which is why I don't have a whole lot of respect for people that do itNo, the reason you don't have respect for people that do it is that you mistakenly believe it's easy (not having done it yourself) and you want everyone to think that you're an elite track driver because there's more prestige in that among the ignorant, it seems.
I helped my friend wrench on the car on weekends, and, in return, he let me take a pass on occasion.Sure he did. You don't turn some idiot loose in a 9-second drag car just for turning a wrench.
and this particular car was equipped with a trans brake, which make the job even easier....drag racing is fairly mindlessI'd be more impressed if I thought you'd ever actually made a pass in anything.
not a very large wager there, but I didn't keep my time slipsEasy to lose something you never had in the first place.
Hi, my name is Mark Strong, and my amplifiers all go to 11 because that's 1 better than your amplifiers...
jimlab 03-07-2006, 09:36 PM it's not that tough when you have a tubbed camaro with slicks, and about 600 hp :DThat's what I love about you Mark. You just keep adding "supporting evidence" as you think of it because you're not bright enough to get your story straight in one post.
If I had a nickel for every "600+ horsepower" big block I've heard about...
edit: I looked up the hp calculator and the car was probably closer to 800, although it was never dyno'dThanks for providing more proof that you're lying. So what did this supposedly 9-second big block Camaro trap on a 9.80 pass? Don't forget to use a calculator...
jimlab 03-07-2006, 10:07 PM shit, what CAN you do, except boast on the internet? The one thing that you actually do better than anyone else?
The second someone says drag racing is "mindless" or "easy", you can pretty much bank on the fact that they've never tried, and if they have, they're down on the sport because they didn't do as well as they thought they would on the first time out.
One of my friends only managed a 13.7 with his ~330 RWHP FD the first time he tried. After that, he decided that competing in car shows was more fun.
jimlab 03-07-2006, 10:15 PM like I said, the car was never dyno'd, but "Mountain Billy" knew how to build engines, as well as anyone....it was a 454 with tunnel ram manifold and dual 1050 Holly dominators; similar engines can generate 800 hp, factFact: How much "wrenching" could you have actually done if you don't know jack shit about what you were supposedly wrenching on?
"Mountain Billy"?!?
