wtf happened to all the classics, why aren't they making more games like starcraft (and homeworld), Quake (ok there are new shooters but most of them suck too)
man I can't think of even one modern game (especially RTS) that I can even sit through for an hour nevermind would actually be willing to buy and play for hundreds of hours...

On teh compootar I play... umm... multiplayer notepad. I think the only game i have on here is bzflag, and i haven't played that in about a year.
KatakanaKarl 07-27-2006, 10:12 AM Half-Life 2, and all its associated spin-offs/mods. After they released HL2: Episode One (the first expansion), I went back and played through the entire game again, and it reminded me just how great Half-Life games are.
Episode Two is going to come with Team Fortress 2, and a new single player first person puzzle game called Portal, which looks mind-bendingly badass.
There's also a team remaking the original Half-Life in the source engine, under the name "Black Mesa", but using HL2 as a base, so it will look as good as the new games (unlike HL: Source, which just had better lighting/water effects and newer AI).
As for other shooters, quite a few of them suck out loud, but there have been some seriously good ones the past few years. FarCry was badass, F.E.A.R. was badass, and Prey is pretty killer too. Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is pretty sweet also, online play is awesome, but you have to have a beefy rig to run it, otherwise it looks like shit.
For RTS, the only one I've played recently is Warhammer: Dawn of War. Not very original, but the gameplay is quick and simple, and the unit animations are VERY good. Plus it already has one decent expansion, and will have another within a few months.

FPS? there's a ton of awesome FPS games...
start with FEAR and HL2
as for strategy games... nothing can match the longevity of blizzard RTS games. still there are some decent ones out there. rome: total war is really good.

Personally, I don't mind Steam at all. Never really saw why people hate it so much.

Athlon Mobile 2600+.... yes on a desktop.. why? because it runs cooler with lower voltage so its a hell lot overclockable than the other athlon's. i just dont have the cooling to support it :( ... damn thermaltake POS blow fan that sounds like a lear jet taking off to puerto rico.
