fcdrifter13 04-08-2007, 10:35 PM I just traded around with a buddy of mine and ended up with a 88 Sammy for trade for my sand rail. So far I have had nothing but good experiences with it(2 days) and have only gotten it stuck once(one of the vids).
I have done the basic tune up(all fluids lines and such changed), and it is by far the esiest and most fun thing to work on that I have owned in the past years and goes places that my sand rail would not and the sammy is on bald tires and has a slipping clutch so I am super ecstatic about the lil truck that could.

I got this as a toy and it will be treated as such, but with respect as a big toy. I am getting ready to order the SOPA kit from RRO and Calmini C5 front and the swing away rear bumper. Still trying to choose a good tire and wheel combo that suits just about any terrain of West Virginia that I may come across.
You guys know anything about these. Its got a few pops and cracks and I think a bad u joint and I know a bad front axel that I need to fix.
ComradeGiant 04-08-2007, 10:51 PM I know a guy that put a turbo 13b in one, said it was absolutely unstoppable and the most fun ever.
rx-7_Z06 04-09-2007, 01:47 AM I always liked the sammys. Who was talking in the vid? You or your buddy? Your buddy sounds like a guy I know.
fcdrifter13 04-09-2007, 07:30 AM That beautiful redneck voice you here is mine. I got all excited and let the hick in me slip out.

+1
beefhole 04-09-2007, 08:37 PM You know, I'm tempted soon to buy one of those little terds for a beater. I'm sure they are pretty good on gas mileage and are decent in winter driving.

they are better with a little money thrown at em. If you get the suspension where it should be and at least put a rear locker in it they are pretty damn good. I just prefer either a jeep or an old toyota for a base as a beater, simply because you are starting from the beginning with better components.
beefhole 04-09-2007, 08:57 PM I don't think i'd really go offroad, just need something with 4WD for those bad winter days.

Actually, far from. However, I do work in the city, but I walk to and from the train station. Right now my RX-7 is simply my weekend car, although I do need to on weekends do grocery shopping, visit family, go to a friends house et cetera. I would get something else to use in the winter where the weather is just too bad to drive an RX-7 in do do my weekend activities.
Terrh 04-10-2007, 11:57 PM trackers/sidekicks/samurais = awesome.
too bad up here they all rusted away :(
so I bought a DSM and pretend it's a jeep, hey, it's 4wd isn't it!
Cosby 04-11-2007, 12:04 PM Man, my jeep is totally your suzuki's daddy. I just changed out my locker for an aussie locker and upgraded my driveshaft. Loud as piss. I'm a mickey thompson dealer if you find anything you like from them.
fcdrifter13 04-11-2007, 01:03 PM I will keep that in mind. I Got a set of Mud Terrains for free from a friend that should hold me over until I get the YJ SOA kit then I will start sizing what type of tire I will need

Forget about that crap, I recommend you move to a normal state where they don't build houses on the side of Mt Everest.
fcdrifter13 04-12-2007, 01:25 PM What that little hill i,ve seen houses built on hills way way steeper than that, in states such as colorado, and south carolina.

Stretch out a new top?

fcdrifter13 04-12-2007, 02:33 PM No not for a new top. The one that is on the zuki right now shrunk in the 4-5 years it sat in a garage. The first problem was the fact that the rear bow was to long and somehow they got the top on and buttoned up, but after I fixed the problem(after the 2 hours it took me to get all the buttons undone and latches unsiezed) we cannot get the top to go back on at all.
fcdrifter13 10-05-2007, 02:10 PM Update
THe sammy is now no where near street legal.
I am waiting on the delivery of my ZOR front and rear bumpers, and sapre tire carrier. I am in the process of installing a trail tough YJ kit, yota axels, kick motor, and trans with lower gears in the kick case which is going to be run into a geared yota case.
I want the sammy to be ready for tellaco next spring when the local jeep/4x4 chapter is takng a trip to tellaco.
Tofuball 10-05-2007, 02:18 PM I saw a sammy broken down on the side of the freeway yesterday and thought of you :P
fcdrifter13 10-05-2007, 02:19 PM Aww how sweet. Wait since when do sammys break.
Tofuball 10-05-2007, 02:21 PM That one certainly was :P
driftmunkey 10-05-2007, 02:27 PM good chice with the yota axles, and avoid the ARBs imo. They are too spendy and the seals and air lins leak often. Leaks = no locker and a spendy rebuild.
Alex-7 10-07-2007, 11:53 AM Good find.
I had a really clean tin top for a couple months. It was fun.
wayneard3413 10-29-2007, 07:47 PM Still looks better in my pics covered in mud with no top or doors lol
Cosby 10-29-2007, 08:28 PM post them

2ndGen.Rocket 11-07-2007, 08:25 AM The couch outside with the tire on it is a nice addition. It just kicks the white trash flair up a few notches.
