BATMAN 04-23-2007, 09:24 AM ...in rush hour car pool lane.
The M5 was in front of me.
Agressive gal driver.
SHe got on it a few times ( exhaust smoked and rear end squatted) and couldn't loose me.
We hit 100 - 110~MPH
Each time I just reeled her in.
Temps read (on PFC Commander) 85C for water and 34C for air.
With a full tank of gas and a passenger I managed to pull the M5 in.
I never got the car dyno'd, but what sorta power does it take to pull it in at a speed of 15MPH~?
Car was set to boost at 1 bar, but I'm boosting at .7 - .8 bar max.
SpartanTS 04-23-2007, 10:39 AM The E39 M5 is a car I wouldn't mind owning. They're so much sexier than the newer M5er.
Damn good kill though. I'm not sure what the stats are for the E39, but 400HP is nothing to shake a stick at, even if it is a pig .
BATMAN 04-23-2007, 11:16 AM that's impressive at 0.8 bar (11.6 psi)
I've beat an M5, but I was running 14 psi up to about 130
nice run....they are heavy beasts
The BNR turbos works wonders at lower PSI when compared to the stock twins.
4000lbs / 400hp = 10lb/hp
3000lbs / (340rwhp/(.8hp/rwhp)) = 7lb/hp
So....... an FD with 340 rwhp should accelerate at 10/7 the rate of said M5... or 1.4x ...
Easy kill.
BATMAN 04-24-2007, 09:30 AM FD prior to the spoiler should have a .cd of .29 (factory specs).
With spoiler, .31 Cd
M5 is like my NSX and a Toyota Sienna at .32 Cd.
Since the FD has the massive double decker would it be fair to say that I might be pushing more HP?
Say No To Pistons 04-24-2007, 02:50 PM That spoiler turns your car into a sleeper.
Say No To Pistons 04-24-2007, 07:02 PM Uh... True but i don't think you're thinking what thinking.
Eatmyclutch 04-24-2007, 11:23 PM How lucky does your penis feel today, BATMAN?
Terrh 04-25-2007, 09:24 AM M5's dyno around 340 to the wheels, and weigh 4000lb.
Compared to an FD, they're hardly aerodynamic.
they are quick cars, sure, but no match for an FD with those mods.
BATMAN 04-25-2007, 10:18 AM i think the M5 is .31Cd
That's close to the FD.
Terrh 04-25-2007, 11:13 AM right, but an ocean liner can be 0.31Cd too, frontal area is just as important of a factor.
Tofuball 04-25-2007, 11:39 AM I /r/ pix of Batman vs Ocean Liner.
2ndGen.Rocket 04-25-2007, 04:29 PM I'm sure the driver of that new M5 was upset for about 2 seconds, and then realized that they were driving a new M5 and it was ok again.
ComradeGiant 04-25-2007, 04:51 PM My goal in life is to stick a 514 in my station wagon so I can smack new cars around.
I'd need about twice the power of whatever I was going against because the aerodynamics of that car are horrible, but that makes it all the better.
Say No To Pistons 04-25-2007, 05:00 PM maybe, maybe not
one of the M5s I raced got extremely pissed when I pulled him in third and fourth...after I slowed down, he did a ricer flyby and slashed his way in and out of traffic like a complete maniac
people with the biggest egos crash and burn the hardest, mr. "I'll be working for the biggest bank in the U.S. and make way more than you!"
What d oyou call them, yzf? Oh yeah... "pricks".
ComradeGiant 04-25-2007, 05:33 PM I am a firm contrarian.
It goes hand in hand with my basic belief that most people are idiots.
Edit: I am aware that contrarian is not a word, but if Lewis Carroll can make up words I can too.
BATMAN 04-25-2007, 05:40 PM it helps when ur behind the car...... the closer u get the less drag....
BATMAN 04-25-2007, 06:01 PM is starting 200 yards away drafting?
Once I was in the drafting zone the pull was faster....
2ndGen.Rocket 04-25-2007, 06:23 PM maybe, maybe not

Says the guy who can "bench more and make more and drive faster and ride harder than anyone". You should be one to talk about ego's, at least mine has a legitimate reason behind it.
And I'm not a complete fucking idiot. I understand that some retard could make a Plymouth Acclaim go faster than an M5 if they wanted to. Doesn't mean that the M5 is anything less than an absolutely badass piece of machinery.
2ndGen.Rocket 04-25-2007, 06:40 PM I must misunderstand everything then. For a minute there I thought I was talking to the king of boasting. Guess I'm wrong.
ComradeGiant 04-25-2007, 07:09 PM I weigh more than either of you can bench press, and require 3500 calories a day simply to maintain my bodily functions!
So there!
2ndGen.Rocket 04-25-2007, 07:55 PM right back at cha
I'll give you that title for boasting about how much money you might make, at some point in the future
The future being next Friday. I'll let you know how the free box seats are at the Braves game.
FDTHREES 04-27-2007, 11:02 AM I have a M5..
and when my wife drives it. (often aggressive)
On the road, she usually in 6th gear, and she thinks
down shifting to 5th and flooring it is aggressive.
The car has alot of torque so it seems like is giving it
all it can, but really not.
Not sure of the girls driving abilities, of the m5 you raced.
but i bet she is like my wife, racing around in 5th gear.
While someone like me, would top out 3rd and row all the gears.
nevertheless.. good kill.
BATMAN 04-27-2007, 11:41 AM I think this gal dropped it down more than the 5th gear since the M5 squatted pretty hard and there was a good deal of exhaust smoke when she initially gunned it.
THe RPMs was in the higher range.
My ex-FD mechanic had a 2000 M5 so I have a good idea of what that is capable of...
