wotnartd 03-28-2008, 11:35 PM Pretty interesting. Anybody else heard it? I'll be uploading it to my server sometime this weekend, and let you guys take it, at will. Ark2 03-29-2008, 06:41 PM Yupp, had it for a while now. All in all, not a bad remix CD, but not his best. Definately worth a listen though, especially the track God Given. wotnartd 03-29-2008, 06:54 PM Yeah, I can;t upload it, either. My FTP is being a whore. Ark2 04-19-2008, 02:36 PM Have you been to http://remix.nin.com/ ? Ark2 04-19-2008, 05:19 PM The song is from the concept album Year Zero. The song itself is sung from a perspective that fits into the concept of the album (which is in a nutshell, about the advent of the apocalypse), not necessarily Trent's. Hey man, please don't make a sound Take a look around, can't you see what's right in front of you Have a little taste, no more time to waste You don't wanna get left behind cause it's all coming down right now How hard is it to see Put your faith in me 'Cause you wouldn't want to be nailed To the wrong piece of wood You should get where you belong Everything you know is wrong Come on, sing along, everybody now God given And it gives us sight And we see the light And it burned so bright Now we know we're right Still there's kingdom come And thy will be done We have just begun We're the chosen ones we would never tell you anything that wasn't absolutely true that hadn't come straight from his mouth for me to tell you Wait, step into the light How can this be right? I'm afraid we're gonna ask you to leave This you cannot win With the color of your skin You won't be getting into the Promised Land This is just another case You people still don't know your place Step aside, out the way, wipe that look of your face Cause we all get divine Separated from the swine Come on, sing along, everybody now God given And it gives us sight And we see the light And it burned so bright Now we know we're right Still there's kingdom come And thy will be done We've just begun We're the chosen ones And it gives us sight And we see the light And it burned so bright Now we know we're right Still there's kingdom come And thy will be done We've just begun We're the chosen ones http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgj64iKYT08 wotnartd 04-19-2008, 09:56 PM God Given is amazing. I've always taken it from the stance of a Papal position. Not necessarily of a Pope, but a "figurehead" of the community in which this takes place. The downward spiral of humanity, in so many words. The hate. The lies/misinformation. Mark, if you haven't heard this album, I highly recommend it. Ark2 04-19-2008, 10:18 PM God Given is amazing. Hmmm, Vessel is definately sung from that position, where some religious leader is hoping that the end of the world will happen soon. I've always thought that God Given was sung by a political figure, like Capital G, only one that is using religion to spur on their racism. Maybe not though. wotnartd 04-19-2008, 10:41 PM Hmmm, Vessel is definately sung from that position, where some religious leader is hoping that the end of the world will happen soon. Same wavelength. I'm not on my "A" game, today. Ark2 04-20-2008, 11:35 AM I guess he believes all Christians are racists/elitists, which of course is absurd Trent is incredibly warped, which is why I avoid his toxic "music" I certainly wouldn't jump to that conclusion. I think he tends to believe that they are the one's ruling the country though. He seems pretty guarded with respect to his spiritual beliefs. Ark2 04-20-2008, 11:51 AM Again, the Downward Spiral is another concept album. It chronicles one man's decline into suicide, hence the title. No one really knows if that is how he feels or not. Ark2 04-20-2008, 11:55 AM True, but if you were to compare him to someone like Marilyn Manson, where virtually every one of his songs is about the "false Christ-God" he isn't that bad. Ark2 04-20-2008, 12:19 PM He produced Manson's only good album, Anti-Christ Superstar (I know, I know). You can really hear Trent's influence musically. Lyrically it's all Manson (so naturally it's shit). |
