Looking to drop in an RB25 aznpoopy 08-07-2005, 12:15 PM omg you had a s12... i love those little cars. let us know how it goes with the 91. Katana200sx 08-09-2005, 09:20 PM name: mark cars: 1995 200sx 2005 Altima CU ZCar 08-13-2005, 06:40 PM name: Shaun cars: http://www.clemson.edu/~sbarret/drift/s12_sm.jpg - 1985 Nissan 200SX -ugly, slow, cheap (http://www.clemson.edu/~sbarret/drift/s12.jpg) http://www.clemson.edu/~sbarret/drift/zcar_sm.jpg - 1978 Datsun 280Z -less ugly, less slow, still pretty cheap :-D (http://www.clemson.edu/~sbarret/drift/zcar.jpg) The 200SX is all original, stock, and falling apart. The 105hp CA20E seems like it wants to keep on tickin' for a while longer though. This car may or may not receive a '95 KA24DE at some point in the future. The 280Z has a 1983 280ZXT engine, and springs/shocks/swaybars/bushings upgraded. Current configuration put 180hp to the ground, I hope to improve on that in the coming months now that I'm outta school. aznpoopy 08-14-2005, 01:51 PM wow the 280z looks awesome... is that the original paint? it still looks shiny. man i want a 200sx. i've heard the ka24de is almost a straight bolt in with the stock mounts. don't know how much truth there is to that. CU ZCar 08-14-2005, 06:37 PM Thanks, the Z got a cheapie respray in 2000. That pic is ~2yrs old now I think, it's unfortunately very oxidized/dull now, I'm planning on repainting it in the coming months. It was originally black I believe, and I'm torn between putting it back that way and keeping the orange. The 200SX is a good candidate for the KA swap, there's a couple guys running around with those (none that I know locally though). Check out www.club-s12.org for more info on those cars. If you want one, it should be little trouble to get it...I paid $300 for mine, and if you want to do a swap (stock engine is actually a CA family engine, and there have been SR swaps done as well) you don't even need to find a running one. There's also the SE model that came stock with a VG30E. Just keep in mind that the 200SX has a Z31-style semitrailing arm rear suspension vs. the superior multilink style found in S13/S14s. There's also much less aftermarket support for the S12 chassis; you can use some Z31 stuff, some 280ZX stuff, and in other cases you'll probably have to do custom work or mix-and-match parts. Quick note on the KA swap, I've read up on it but the details aren't clear in my mind at the moment. I think most end up using KA mounts, and you have to muck around with the transmissions...You can use the 200SX CA18/CA20 transmission with the KA front half according to one swapper, while you could also use the KA transmission but I believe it requires changes to the driveshaft. Some 200's came with B-style tailhousings and later ones had the 240SX C-style tailhousings, and I'm not sure which was present in the swap where the guy mix-and-matched tranny cases. Your mileage may vary :-P ComradeGiant 08-16-2005, 03:34 PM ^ Shit, mine didn't even have the semi-trailing. I got rid of it because it had the solid rear, and I bent the axle. Those looking for an S12 beware the 84 model year, it has some really funky shit. CU ZCar 08-18-2005, 07:43 PM Yea forgot about the stick-axle cars. On the plus side, '84 turbos DID have the IRS and also had hood scoops, IIRC. Club-S12 would be worth a look for anyone looking for one of these cars, if nothing else just so you know exactly what you're getting with the different years/styles. RB240 08-25-2005, 11:38 AM One of the fastest cars I've seen/been in is this guy s12 here in florida. If I remember correctly it has the older 300z engine in it. all i know is 'gah'damn' CU ZCar 09-01-2005, 07:11 PM 200SX SE model had a VG30E stock... made it kinda like a 4-seat Z31. What did this particular one have done to it? My good friend had one and traded it 'twards a mazdaspeed protoge. I think the spec felt faster, but he's in total denial currently. --Alex 2cute 09-26-2005, 11:42 AM yeah the spec does feel faster but i do think that the MSP may be faster. idk for sure though. the spec just has so much damn torque (well for an import that is) so it feels really fast. it falls flat on its face around the end of third gear. and it falls hard. but i love it i cant force myself to get rid of it. plus bang for the buck it is the best car on the market IMO well n/a that is zzeeexlover 09-26-2005, 03:01 PM hi ladies! zxluver - wow a 240z... *drool* you know i'm insanely jealous now, right? Most people are.. especially when I tell them that I paid only $600 for it with no rust and drove it back from just outside of Atlanta (which is a 6 hour drive to here). I love it, fixing to switch out the rear end because I don't like the drum brakes... I'm either gonna leave the tripple webbers on it.. or I am putting the 280zx turbo engine that's sitting in my garage in it once it's rebuilt and I get a new turbo... Anyway, I've got a 1998 LE 5spd in whack-tacular Silver Moss. http://nissaninfiniticlub.net/photopost/data/500/11645S14_sig-med.JPG Crappy picture I know, but you get the idea. Oh, and S12's are sexy little beasts. aznpoopy 11-16-2005, 11:24 AM silver moss is a rare and beautiful color dude 98 5spd is a rare car 98 5spd + silver moss is an extremely rare combination, should be worth alot more then your typical s14 to a 240 enthusiast. there probably aren't more then a hundred or so silver moss 5spd 98's in existence. keep that color! HashiriyaS14 11-22-2005, 01:58 PM silver moss is a rare and beautiful color dude 98 5spd is a rare car 98 5spd + silver moss is an extremely rare combination, should be worth alot more then your typical s14 to a 240 enthusiast. there probably aren't more then a hundred or so silver moss 5spd 98's in existence. keep that color! It actually gets better than that. The car is an LE, and there were very few LE's sold with 5spds, in any color, as the LE's were supposed to be the luxo package. If there are more than ten 1998 Silver Moss 5spd LE's out there, I'd be fucking stunned. The only rarer combination that I could think of would be everything else the same, but Deep Fuschia instead of Silver Moss. Deep Fuschia is the rarest color, but it's actually *so* rare and was so unpopular that I don't know if any cars matching all those criteria were even built. aznpoopy 12-06-2005, 12:57 AM deep fuschia... wouldn't happen to be that dark red? that's the worst color for a s14. really makes it look like the secretary's dream car it was meant to be. HashiriyaS14 12-08-2005, 08:34 PM Yep, it's the dark red, almost purple. I wish they'd made S14's in "Brickyard". I love that color.
