SpartanTS 09-27-2004, 12:09 PM The Prelude is gone. After months of deciding and deciding, I decided to put it up for sale and purchase another car.
I bought a 99 (It's a secret)
But with the money i'm getting from the Prelude being sold, i'm gonna go ahead and get a nice set of wheels, lowering springs, struts, kit, paint, and some more audio/visual equipment. The total for the mod list comes to about $3000 so I gotta start saving some $$$ so I can have everything finished by next summer. An all sight and sound car. It's not fast and I don't intend it to be. I rather retain reliablity than speed for the moment. I have to make this car last at least 2-3 years before I get outta college.
With that said, can I change my User Name Chris?
pretty sure he can. what do you want to change it to?
Stegall 09-27-2004, 02:35 PM you should be BabyUsher dude...

You wouldn't believe how often I get told that. "Aye, do you know you look like Usher?"
Anyhow, I didn't stoop that low to buy a damn Kia. But i did get a 4 door compact sedan with a ton of aftermarket support. It doesn't look like a lot right now, but it will in a couple of months.
As for a new User Name, i dunno. I guess i'll think of something sooner or later.
SpartanTS 09-27-2004, 04:31 PM BTW, it's not a Honda

SpartanTS 09-27-2004, 08:46 PM Not quite ecotec, but 2.2L OHV.
It's a 4 Door Cavalier. I know some may be thinking WTF was he thinking...well here's part of my inspiration

And on top of that, the cavy I got was only $1000. I have big plans for her and I should have everything complete by the beginning of next summer. Unlike most, I WILL NOT be installing clear corners and euro lights as soon as possible. Kit and wheels first, then the rest will come. Right now, the sound/ security system is going in. The subs/amps/deck are being installed and from there i'll be installing a security/remote start/keyless entry system.
Now that I won't be spending money on repairs, I can concentrate on the shit I really want for my car. Not buying parts every f'n month like I was with my Lude.
So now, if you would, help me pick a new User Name :)
JPAccord 09-27-2004, 08:54 PM cavaqueer.....jk
Stegall 09-27-2004, 10:50 PM only 1000 ? how.
what are u doing with the lude? sold already ?
SpartanTS 09-27-2004, 10:57 PM I haven't sold it yet, but it's "for sale". I'm sure I can get someone to buy it in Columbia for $1500 so that won't be too much of a problem. It's been quite the POS to me lately so as far as i'm concerned, I don't care what happens to it. :firedevil
Right now, I'm working in stages for the Cavy. As for the first stage, that'll be my A/V/security, then the kit, then wheels 18" or 19". My mom found the car, and I didn't have to come out of pocket :).
The plan is for me to have one of the nicest cars in the burg. It may not be the fastest, but surely I want a head turner I can take to shows. So that's the plan. I have a long way to go, but plenty of time.
Stegall 09-27-2004, 11:40 PM well good luck on the freshly dubed cavaqueer !
get some shit done to it so we can rename it the cavafear !
cavys will fly if you know what you're doing, i raced a stock cavy before in my moms tbird, it stayed right beside me the whole time. so they have SOME power. to say the least.
im sure the video of the turbo sunfire beating a Ram Air T/A would be a repost, so I'll save time finding it and posting the URL...
JPAccord 09-28-2004, 06:16 AM youre gonna have one of the nicest cars in sburg with 3000 in mods? Wish i lived there...

Well i'm judging off my prices. I get a hefty ass discount at Best Buy. Everything for me is 5% above company cost.
My only kicker is the wheels and the kit. That's about $1200+ and then i'll have to get the car painted so that's more money. 3k is kinda my staring point. I'll spend more than that i'm sure over time.
Cosby 09-28-2004, 10:02 AM I wish I could have the nicest car in spartanburg.
SpartanTS 09-28-2004, 10:06 AM I wish I could have the nicest car in spartanburg.
You have the nicest rotary in Spartanburg :D
Cosby 09-28-2004, 10:08 AM no, I have the fastest...if you don't count mandeville's stuff
SpartanTS 09-28-2004, 10:14 AM My car surely won't be the fastest, but i'm aiming for the best looking. At least the top 5.
JPAccord 09-28-2004, 11:55 AM what kind of kit/rims are you planning on getting for about 1200? I dont even know of many 19" wheel/tire packages for 1200.
my goals have def changed for my cars. i was going to build a drag car but then it occured to me i really dont like pure "drag racing" enough compared to other forms of motorsports and fun on the street. guess thats why im going from S/C and auto tranny to turbo and 5-spd tranny. dont care if it makes more/less power or is faster/slower as long as its more reliable and fun to drive.
SpartanTS 09-28-2004, 12:35 PM what kind of kit/rims are you planning on getting for about 1200? I dont even know of many 19" wheel/tire packages for 1200.
Kit came up to 480 with front, rear and side skirts. Found a wheel set (w/o tires) 18" racing hart c5 knockoffs for 850. So about 1200+ is about right. I'll probably go for the real C5's because they come to 920
Tires i'm not worried about. I can get tires dirt cheap through a friend who has a massive discount on tires.
Cody I see exactly what you mean by changing. I had big plans for my Prelude. Once I got aa 5 spd swap, b20a, and about 8-10 psi, I'd be in the low 14's easy and maybe high 13's.
Street racing isn't my forte, audio and show is. So I guess it all depends on what you want to do. Once I re-evaluated what I wanted to do, it's a lot easier to pursue.
