Driver Pulled Over For Speeding Commits Suicide
Police: Man Shot Self In Head

RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating after a motorist who was pulled over for speeding committed suicide as the officer approached to ticket him.
It happened Tuesday night along the southbound lanes of Chippenham Parkway.
Richmond NBC affiliate WWBT reported that a state police officer had pulled the driver over for going 75 mph in a zone marked 60 mph.
State police Sgt. Kevin Barrick said the trooper heard a gunshot and saw the driver's side window blow out. When he got closer, he found a man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The driver died at the scene.
The incident closed the roadway for several hours.
