Verizon has a 2-year plan promo for a Razr for $99 or get a Samsung or LG that has built in MP3 + a free blue tooth ear piece for FREE.

I really wish the Razr from Verizon had MP3 capabilities.

Cingular has the Motorola SLVR L7 which has just that. And there was some ad from Cingular that after investing $270 million in the Bay Area, they added more stations that resulted in fewer dropped calls than verizon.

No promo on the $250 Motorola SLVR L7 from Cingular.

And Cingular does have roll over minutes.

I fuck hate Verizon for being slow in getting the latest phones out on the market.

All I can say is fuck cingular. I had the unlimted minutes/nation thing and it was supposed to come to 89$ a month. One day they sent me a bill for 700$ say I went over my limit and had made international calls. Fought it to the end and in the end I had to pay $500 because of them. I am on verizion right now couldnt be happier except the razr can suck my nuts. I keep my old V555 and just had them program it for there use. Its by far the better phone as far as durabuility

Before being with Verizon for 6+ years I've had Sprint (best sound quality, but shitting range), AT&T & MCI.

Verizon told me that the reason why they are slow with releasing phones is that a majority of the phones are GSM and they have to convert them to another format, hence the delay.

Fucking bakwards bullshit.

It sucks since u know the good shit will come out to Verizon, but have to get a lessor phone for the time being.

I've had a Razr for about a year now and the biggest gripe I have is the reception. It will show full signal strength, but sometimes it sounds like I'm going through a subway tunnel. (It has never dropped a call, though) I had an old Sony-Ericsson before the Razr and it was twice the phone this one is as far as call quality. They aren't the most durable phones either, but I have been lucky so far.

OK, looks like i'm leaning towards the LG/Samsung option.

I've been with Verizon for a while and am pretty happy with them. I'm on a pre-paid plan, so it works out to less than $20/mo for my 307 and 866 number, no roaming/longdistance, and more time than I use in a month. What I don't use carries over month to month.

And my phone has an MP3 player on it.

The issues I had may only be related to me and my work. I am very rough on them. I kept on knocking the thing into 2 pieces. Buttons after a month didnt work, and screen cracked when closed. This was on 3 different phone and I am very very rough on them. I found that the messly stock nokia hold up better and get way better reception. But As of know I have a V55 I am pretty sure is teh name. Takes damn good vidoes alot of good pics, and is as tough as a tank. Ive rolled over it with my truck, dropped in river and went after it worked fine after it dried.

i havnt had a chance to destroy a slvr yet. But I may get one later next month. Like I said though I am ecspecially rough on all my phones PDAs, and laptops. All the providers know me pretty well cause im always exchanging.

you want to talk about rough on cellphones, PDAs and laptops, you should hear some of my stories :banghead:

animal probably remembers the "Drop the damn DELL to get it to work" series.

I went through four cellphones in five weeks once, all work related as well.

first one landed in a mud puddle, second one got a little close to the electromagnet and was toasted, the third one was crushed under some pipe we were working on, and the fourth one exploded on impact after an ~ 80 foot drop from a tower I was working on.

The cellphone provider for the company I work for knows me well. Whenever I show up they say "What broke this time?"

certified box and crack checker :D

we do a lot of elevated work, so most of the cell phone damage comes from dropping. But we've had a few where they get so full of coal dust or other similar materials and just quit functioning.

Yup. 7868ST. It may be old, but this fucker is built like a tank. About the only thing that can break when it's in the holster is the antenna, I've been through about half dozen of those. Good signal, 5129min on transmitter, 2554mins of that is since I got it.

The jack on the bottom of the dual-mode I have is b0rked, but I have an even older analog-only that's in mint condition (still has the protective plastic sheet on the screen) I use for a battery charger. Switch the two batteries out in the morning, gets about 3 days standby and about 2hrs talktime on one charge.

I had Cingular a long time ago, and repeatedly had billing issues with them, and experienced woefully bad reception. (Probably because of the Nokia base phone)

Then I went to nextel for four years, and a Motorola I90. Think was indestructable, but getting it to charge was a nightmare. Those Motorola connectors are retarted. What moron thought it was nessisary to have the phone beep constantly and endlessly, and refuse to display the time, when the battery is low? Even when it is on silent mode? Reception and sound quality tended to just above acceptable, but I would get reception where no one else would.

I switched to Verizon two months ago. Got a Razr v3c. Much better reception (I get reception EVERYWHERE now) and sound quality. it's a pretty decent phone, but the Verizon software on it is total trash, and keeps crashing. It's really buggy. (Like sometimes mine plays the alarm on weekends when you have it set not to). I love the fact that it plugs in with a standard USB digital camera cable. Supposedly the regular versions of the phone (not Verizon) are pretty nice.

Cingular sucks nuts. I get a promo discount from them through my company (actually they just pay for my phone so they get to choose providers), and their service is real bad in North Carolina. My Motorolla V551 always has some sort of weird battery issue, or it will just shut off randomly. I can't drive 5 miles in any direction without completely losing service and I live in the fucking city. Fuck Cingular, get Verizon.
