Impreza75 04-17-2002, 12:52 AM Ya know, as a car, the NSX is awesome. But definitely not even close to worth the asking price of 90K. Not fast enough in my opinion, handles awesome, but not as good as stuff much cheaper. Z06 anyone???. or I'd save the extra 30K and buy a 911 Turbo. Its great, but its to lop sided in its performance, awesome handling, but not there wth the speed aspect. Needs the whole package.
Punter 04-17-2002, 01:17 AM I agree, the NSX has an absolutely ridiculous price tag for what it delivers. It always blew my mind that anyone actually bought them. A 0-60 time of 5.1 is just not going to cut it for a $90,000 car and its starting to show its age in its looks too. I mean the handling is very good, not absolutely amazing or anything, but good. It's not surprising that in their record sales year Acura average selling on 15 NSXs per month in the entire country, who in their right mind would pay that kind of money for that car, its just can't compete with the other cars in its price range. I don't understand about saving $30,000 and buying a 911 Turbo though? A 911 Turbo is $115,000......an NSX is $90,000.
Z-28 For You 04-17-2002, 02:20 AM Just line either one up with my car. They will lose.. but of course theres that import race only deal going on there!!!!!!!!

Line up either one what? Either the NSX or the 911 Turbo?? Or either the NSX or the Z06? Either way......what are you talking about?!??!?!? The NSX does 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, so while I don't think you would be able to beat that, it's possible so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt there.....but a 911 Turbo does 0-60 and 3.9 seconds and the Z06 does it in about 4.2 and there's no way you're going to touch that
Z-28 For You 04-17-2002, 12:20 PM And you know how much power my car makes and how much I can get to the ground..... granted 3.9 secs is quick, If I could put all of power to the ground consisitently, then 3.9 might be somewhat close to an actual figure for me. I mean, i have witnesses to seeing it lay rubber longer than the car in fourth gear.. you must have to have some power to lay in your highest gear.....How many cars do you know that can lay rubber in their last gear? Notice, all I said was lay it, not boil like I did.

What all have you done to your car?
Corban 04-17-2002, 08:22 PM Exactly.
Uglymexican19 04-17-2002, 08:25 PM that nsx is sweeet!! have yall seen the 2003 its even sweeter!!!!!!!!!
Ben Howard 04-17-2002, 11:37 PM Z28...its not about laying rubber. Its about what the cars performance actually is. And think about it this way too...these are 2 well rounded cars. Not like mine and yours...these cars can bust ass anywhere.
Just my .02 <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>
Texas89LX 04-18-2002, 12:12 AM cant say that im a fan of the black on black... now if those wheels were white/silver/polished/ maybe even super-chrome-bling-bling-for-shizzle it would be very nice indeed IMO
id maybe pick one up used... the new one is supposed to put ot performace equal to the price tag.
for 90k tho.... cant really get a ferrari worth having for that. maybe an '01 or '03 cobra and mod it to the gills <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
Impreza75 04-18-2002, 01:52 AM Or even better, buy a 72 Charger drop in a 440 Magnum (but with that kinda money I'd probably just use the 426 Hemi), mod that to well over 1000HP. Then buy a Supra, mod it to about 1000HP on high boost, take it out to bust some ass every once in a while. Then buy a Typhoon, and mod it really well and use it for the daily driver. Or, replace the Typhoon with a 94 Impreza L, get the TRIAL body kit for it, then get an STi Version 6 conversion (with front mount).
Or I could get an NSX. which one would you chose?
Would say I'd get a 22B, but they are all bought and accounted for dammit. Same wth the P1s, grrr.
Impreza75 04-18-2002, 01:57 AM Lots of power, or just really crappy tires, and no traction. Unless your gonna race a 911 Turbo with Slicks, you won't have a chance, its AWD. An NSX on the other hand wouldn't be to hard, only runs 13s. But your gonna have to break well into the 11s to beat a 911 Turbo. Thats just in the quarter, not what either car was made for. Better hope your gearing lets you get to 200mph, or that 911 Turbo is just gonna walk on by even if you get ahead. 170 or so for the NSX.
Ben Howard 04-18-2002, 08:37 AM Me and an NSX at Nopi got it on from 0-80mph. It was pretty bad ass. Cool ass dude too. Stace was like uh Bennnn i dunno if you should do that. We took off at the light. Completely side by side til 60 or more when i slightly pulled him. Maybe half a car. NSX isnt worth the money but still a very fun car to have by any means.

Exactly. *I agree 100%. *Ben once again proving that people that modify imports are not always the typical "ricer". *
On the note about laying rubber... *Anyone could lay rubber in their last gear if they had 145/65/15 Kelley Chargers and a manual tranny or a shift kit on an auto. *And how does low traction = performance in anyones mind???
Go to the track and show em Anthony. There is an older guy in a factory Z06 who cruises Asheville every weekend and will race anything. If it isnt fast enough for you, jump on the Turbo Supra powered rusty pickup... thats a hybrid...
Oh yeah how your car is geared your 5-th gear is about equal to my 3-rd gear and yes i can catch a hella 3rd with 185hp...
Ben Howard 04-18-2002, 09:25 AM Now i wasnt being a c###. Just truthful. If it were about catching gears i could say i could satch 4th at 100 or so. Give you a long screech. But hey thats not what its about.
ANd i wasnt being sarcastic about your car Z28...im serious its bad as hell.
Thanx for the comment Matt!
Corban 04-18-2002, 10:31 AM Also there is a reason that the 911 turbo is awd. I'm sure it would bawl some tires too if it weren't. And I agree with ben...your car is bad ass but has nowhere near the all around performace of a 911 turbo.
Impreza75 04-18-2002, 03:56 PM I don't think its AWD to save Tires. Look at the 911 GT2, more power and torque than the 911 Turbo, and its RWD. Fastest production Porsche on the market at the moment. AWD is just something they use to help handling and make it good for all weather driving, look at the Lamborghini Diablo and Mercialago, also AWD. Good stuff.
Corban 04-19-2002, 10:40 AM yeah I understand that awd wasn't to keep it specificly from spinning but more about handling but my point was if it didn't have awd then it would bawl the tires. I guess I didn't really make the point very well.
Ben Howard 04-19-2002, 11:22 AM Well also remember that almost all of those come with some sorts of Traction controll too. I would still hate to have one of those cars and get beat by something that cost anywhere under $30k. That would just be so damn sad.

Impreza75 04-19-2002, 06:45 PM yea but not much under 30K would run with those cars at speed. Plus, people who buy cars like Ferraris, Lamborghins, and Porsches don't buy em cause they are good deals. And usually certainly don't buy em to go to the races. Just give me a Supra and 15K in mod money, and I will tear some s### up LOL.
Also, I knew what you mean about balling the tires. All those cars have traction control, otherwise even with AWD they would spin. Wasn't trying to be a c### or anything <img src="http://www.spartanburgracing.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
oneblowntwo 04-19-2002, 07:11 PM Compare times..

and whats a stock 911 turbos 1/4 mile?
Ben Howard 04-19-2002, 09:01 PM Saw Civic Si at the Rock with full interior and street driven hand a tunned 996 Bi Turbo his ass!
Impreza75 04-20-2002, 05:15 PM I've heard of people running 12.9 in a stock Z28 (dunno if it was with slicks or not). Thats the the new one with the LS1. But that will not happen with the ordinary driver, typically mid to low 13s. Doubt you will run into anyone capable of pulling off a 12 with one.
911 Turbo will run 11s all day, 11.5 is the fastest time I've heard of for a stock one. Thats on street tires.
But drag racing isn't the only test you should use to justify anything. Put both the cars on a road course, 911 Turbo will win. 0-60, 0-100 911T will win. 100-180 911T will win. Stoping distance, 911T will win. 911T pulls a full G on the skid pad. Only the Z06 can match that US car wise.
Kinda pointless to compare the two really. Two totally different cars. But as far as the Camaro vs Stang thing goes (which is the cars only real competitor at the moment) I think the Camaro comes out on top. Stang is a better sports car, but the Camaro is the better muscle car. I don't think I'd buy an Fbody to take it to the autoX or race track anytime soon though LOL.
Corban 04-20-2002, 06:30 PM My car pulls 0.8g stock!

Corban 04-21-2002, 12:04 PM Huh? There was a comment about a vette pulling a full G. So it wasn't totally off topic. But since this thread isn't on the original topic anyway.
