So, I thought I'd come here and ask you good people because I'm sure somebody knows.
Is it the standard every 3000 miles? Or, do Volvo's require it less often?
Thanks.

Unless you're driving in the worst traffic ever or putting incredible strain on the engine in terrible environments, 5000 miles is fine. Around 7500 miles is fine for most cars that are driven nicely, that use a decent oil (most oil is decent). Steel 05-02-2008, 01:40 PM I go 12.5k on mobil 1, and have since the first oil change. The engine runs like a top (123k now). rodney87 05-02-2008, 06:29 PM If you really wanna do it right put in some royal purple, then you dont need to change it for a long ass time wotnartd 05-02-2008, 07:18 PM Amsoil synthetic if you're a true player. Our van and my dad's Camry do, at least. My Tracer, I just throw in 4 qts of 5w-30 and a fram filter forget the oil filter...just add oil as needed, throw in a can of sea-foam every year and change the oil once a year I do notice better mpg out of synthetic rather then conventional czarofzar 05-02-2008, 09:08 PM synthetic or not, any oil gets contaminated at the same rate by fuel dilution, metal particulate, products of combustion, etc I agree. Too much by products in the oil taxes the canals for eventual buildup, thus reducing proper oil pressures. harder 05-06-2008, 11:56 AM thanks everyone for the useful info. Say No To Pistons 05-06-2008, 07:02 PM Infiniti QX4 Once every 3000 with Mobile 1 full syn and Mobile 1 filter or OEM Nissan filter. Driven daily in NYC traffic and it has a VQ35DE (designed to drink oil/gas worse than RX7). So yeah, depends on where you drive. |
