Why the fuck do people want that place anyway? Granted the Bible says its the holy land, but I'd seriously question God's sanity if he had told me that a barren wasteland was my holy land.

Better question: what is is with western religion and deserts?
Anyone here ever been to Salt Lake City? Its certainly not my idea of paradise on Earth. Another mountain range and they'd be in fertile forest lands, but no they choose to build their city on an utterly barren salt flat. Hell, even Chernobyl has more healthy life in it than most holy lands I've seen.

which direction are you talking?

To the north east, there isn't "fertile forest lands" there is "high mountain desert" with more sagebrush then trees. Due east there is some pretty rugged mountains with some fair tree cover, nothing with enough area to build anything more then a single cabin though (Unless you are talking the Park City area, and that is far from fertile). To the south east, there is a bunch of kick ass badlands to go ride in. To the west, more desert. To the north, more desert. To the south, a few trees here and there, and then the "Little Sahara."

So tell me, what fertile forest lands are you talking about?

I live less then 90 miles from SLC, so please enlighten me, I would like to go visit this forest land some day.
