J/K Congrats man....I hope everything goes well! oakback 11-13-2008, 11:09 AM 5.5 months in . . . I have yet to change a diaper. Women FTW. Holy crap, that's just wrong. I think I change 90% of my son's diapers. She fed him, I changed him. That turned out to backfire though, since she breastfed. All she had to do was lay there. Baby boy #2 is schedule to be cut out on 12/8. I'm not gonna make a deal like that again. Fendamonky 11-13-2008, 11:19 AM shut the fuck up vert *slap* don't listen to him wonner She's totally right you know... You should wait two or three months before "accidentally" letting her slip down a long flight of stairs. No point in doing it immediately since it's not formed up enough to be injured/killed in the fall... :bigthumb: Possible grats though! And Oak... I'm sorry man, but you got OWNED by your woman the first time around! oakback 11-13-2008, 11:34 AM And Oak... I'm sorry man, but you got OWNED by your woman the first time around! I should clarify, I change the diapers when I was home. She was home with the baby all day and at night when I had class, so it was my way of alleviating her of her duties during the day.' But with regards to middle-of-the-night changings, yeah, I got owned. Tofuball 11-13-2008, 12:26 PM People insulting me about it are just jealous because they didn't get a wife as awesome as mine :P Herschel 11-13-2008, 01:14 PM People insulting me about it are just jealous because they didn't get a wife as awesome as mine :P Touch some poop or GTFO, IMO. Fendamonky 11-13-2008, 01:59 PM People insulting me about it are just jealous because they didn't get a wife as awesome as mine :P If she's a good jewish girl than I am def jealous :peace: (for real! they are raised right!!!) Put a cork in it Mark.. I don't think anybody needs you looking down your nose at them like you're so much wiser. Unless you've helped raise kids, or have some of your own, than I don't think you're in any position to lecture on the subject. wotnartd 11-13-2008, 03:07 PM My wife Rebecca just took an EPT test at 1:10PM PST. and it came back positive. It's very likely I'm going to be a daddy! I am utterly speechless....I don't know whether to cry and be happy or run for my life....;) Congrats! 95whitepep 11-13-2008, 03:23 PM now comes 18 years of trials and tribulations, and with it, some happiness Sorry I have to correct you on this, but its not just 18 years...its a lifetime commitment. Just because someone turns 18 doenst mean you should shove them out the door. I'm also not convinced the world will go on another 20 years at the current pace of insanity I'm not talking smack here just some general advise. I think that you should work on expecting good things out of life, not waiting for the bad. Happiness is not something you achieve, its something that occurs in between the bad times....unless you are a freak and like being miserable. As for the doom and gloom attitude, sit back and reflect on how much wasted thought that type of thinking is. Expect good things in life to occur, trust me it will change your whole outcome in life. Even after a few short months of thinking positive like this, you will notice a difference in the quality of your life. </soapbox> 95whitepep 11-13-2008, 04:50 PM I'm not stressed about the future at all if that's what you're implying, and I'm sure having kids can be great, but at the same time this is an increasingly perilous world As apposed to when? 100 years ago when the child mortality rates where 4 times that of today? Sorry but your perilous world argument isn't adding up, and belongs in a Jerry McGuire. Think about this, it wasn't until the 1950 was there antibiotics. less than 60 years ago. And, according to my grandpa on the farm, almost everyone that had an appendicitis died from it. You actually think that going back 100 years is actually better? What about in Christs time when the romans crucified people...how far back do you have to go to where things where not 'perilous' or you didn't have to live in a tent...or sacrifice livestock to God....fact is that non perilous time has never happened, its the true nature of the world. and the challenge of raising a kid who turns out right with all the negative stuff competing for your kid's attention (TV, internet, peers, whatever) can be a real challenge, plus that, with most couples, both parents work (and that's a whole different topic itself)... Really? There is always going to be something to negatively influence kids....no matter what the time period is. Its your job as a parent to make sure that they are not influenced in this way. Regardless of your family structure, some elder is going to be around....if not, and the kid goes on a crime spree then the government gets involved....that will shape them up or they'll live in jail for their whole life. it's naive to say "think happy thoughts, it's all going to be ok" I never said 'think happy thoughts'... I said 'Expect good things' big difference. One is fantasy land, the other is a realist point of view. Its how you approach an issue. You can look at things as a worst case scenario, or you can look at it of whats the best thats going to occur. Glass Half empty/Half full approach....and its not the Joel O approach either. I guess I'm more of a person who carefully considers big decisions like this, most people just kind of stumble into it...let's face it, getting a chick pregnant ain't that tough, as even Obama said, 'any fool can father a child' Ok, in one sentence you have managed to imply that most people are inconsiderate and are fools. Remember Skys last few posts? Change direction on how you phrase things. We all know what type of person you are Mark, help yourself by not dwelling on the negative but expecting the positive. Vert8813B 11-13-2008, 04:50 PM I seriously don't even know if I want a kid. Some guys become giddy over it and that's cool and everything, but I just don't see the excitement. Guess I wouldn't unless it presumptively happened though. wotnartd 11-13-2008, 04:56 PM Dude, I want kids. I think if you truly love someone, a kid is the greatest physical reminder of the love you have. Every day, seeing a beautiful thing that you and your soulmate have created. It's just.... awesome. Vert8813B 11-13-2008, 04:58 PM You watch the Young and the Restless too? wotnartd 11-13-2008, 05:21 PM No, just a romantic. Misty Rayne 11-13-2008, 05:30 PM the fact is kids are awesome, at the end of the day unless you are a cunt (ie my mother) they are the one of the only things you'll ever truely love, yeah they are hard work, what isn't these days but as i said to tofu, all they have to do is smile or even say i love you and everything bad just seems to fade, that is reality not a fantasy 95whitepep 11-13-2008, 05:42 PM Yea I want kids too..... Maybe only one....not sure yet. But kids are one way I to keep your sanity. If you have them around you always have something going on and your brain does not turn OCD. Tofuball 11-13-2008, 05:53 PM If she's a good jewish girl than I am def jealous :peace: (for real! they are raised right!!!) She's not Jewish, but she WAS Catholic. Congrats! Quit talking to yourself wotnartd 11-13-2008, 05:56 PM Quit talking to yourself Que? czarofzar 11-13-2008, 06:33 PM great news! 1revnrex 11-13-2008, 07:24 PM Yah kids are great! 18 years of your life given up to something that will hate you for what you weren't able to provide it! Vert8813B 11-14-2008, 12:31 PM Ok...Kids are kinda cool... http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/1062251/ Steel 11-14-2008, 01:35 PM Man. I'm not normally a kid person... but... that was cute. "I think this is how Hitler got started." Vert8813B 11-14-2008, 01:49 PM  Fendamonky 11-15-2008, 03:12 AM She's not Jewish, but she WAS Catholic. Conversion FTW? Just because her mother isn't a Jew doesn't mean she can't be a little 'Jew'ish =P Tofuball 11-15-2008, 11:18 AM Her mom and dad are Catholic. :P BTW, it's tradition that says it's on the mother's side. Torah actually has it on the father's side. Fendamonky 11-15-2008, 11:21 AM ^ interesting... I knew the whole "If your Mother's a jew, you're a jew" bit. Didn't know the book was sayin' the opposite though. Tofuball 11-15-2008, 11:49 AM Read any of the genealogies, who's side do they go down? :) God's promises were to Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, etc etc Besides, King David's Grandmother (Ruth) and Great Grandmother (Rahab) were not Jewish either. |
