So so I am part of club4ag.com I have been a member there twice. Once before initial d and American drifting. Love the 86 but not for the reason as most people. Anyways I am scolling through this morning and I see this

http://forums.club4ag.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=129781

10k for a car with new paint, a clutch kit, suspension, and a catback. 201k on the odo. And has a couple of JDM later year parts on it. It only makes 102hp at the wheels. Thats worse than a FB. asking Price is 10k. Or he will trade for a supra if they add, a s2000 if they add and shit like that. I fell out of my chair laughing...I scroll down to see if anyone flames him. Nodda. Some even say it could go for more. OMG this stupid shit has to stop before I die laughing.

Dunno how much all those parts costs. Looks like a lot of money put in to make it show ready. It might very well be worth $10k. Now if it had been an ordinary unmodded/lightly modded 86, that would have indeed been ridiculous.

Heh, that's a prime example of what I'd like to call the "Initial D" tax....

Anything that's gotten enough hype via the media will sell for big to the right person, doesn't matter what or who it is....

I did a little reseach on all the parts that he listed in dividually you can buy the whole suspension he has for about 1300.

hehe...probably why he didn't list the amount of money he'd invested in the car...

Like I said Ive been around them, and on that site for at least 3 years. I know my shit and no AE86 is ever worth that much no matter what is done to it.

Umm...ok....Thats like the retarded civic kid trying to trade me his crx type R for my fd a while ago. :evillaugh Some people are just delusional on what they have or after a while they just start believing their own bullshit.

The part that really got me is where it says they may have to add. I just lost it there. He has a car that is at most 5k.....and wanting cars worth around 20k-25k hes a fuckin retard. Ive had to restart the thread where Im selling my 7 at least three times because they keep on saying that there little 86 is more of a sports car than it and that there so much faster. I say fucker.

its more of a go-kart, anyway.

it's no different when rx7 owners claim the FC is a real sports car while the s13 is just a grocery getter. they're practically the same damn car, spec wise.

VLSD
both FR 2800ish lbs
DTSS - HICAS
KA - 13B
SR - 13BT
and the 240sx has better suspension.

just let it slide.

That thing could be plated in gold and I wouldn't pay $10k for that. I wouldn't pay $3k for it.

Hell, just put "JDM Drift Style" into the title of an Ebay auction, and it would probably sell.

I would just like to add that anyone concerned with the car or how much it sells for is also a lame ass ricer.

you sure about that? that's crazy cheap if that's true...

i did a quick browse of his suspension set up. admittedly i don't know ae86's very well... but if you were to do something comparable to a 240sx it would cost well over 1300. it would be in the range of 2500+ if not more. he has gc sleeves /w eibach springs on (t3?) shocks. it looks like he has aftermarket adjustable suspension arms for every suspension arm on the damn car. new inner and outer tie rods. he has a bunch of fancy schmancy jdm suspension/chassis bracing. useful?... meh. expensive?... hell yeah.

those wheels probably aren't very cheap either. te37 14x7+0mm. te37s in that size are $330 or so per wheel. they are not bling bling wheels either... very light weight, very functional. 15x7 te37s weigh 9lbs each. 14 inchers can only be lighter. most stock 15 inch wheels weigh in the realm of 20 lbs or so per wheel. yeah... they are THAT fucking light. add tires and thats easily another $1400 if not more.

just that crap above is probably 5 or 6k above the inflated 2k+ purchase price, easily.

2-way LSD is also another $800 or so. fancy seat (but no harness or roll bar! that's a no-no). couple hundred, maybe more if he didnt go ghetto on the rail. good paint job? meh. who knows. could be a $2000 job or a $300 dollar one. still, he says he spent 10k on it. i wouldn't be surprised if he spent more.

he's not an idiot. he would be an idiot if he sold it for less when people are willing to pay 10k or more.

if you want to flame people, flame the buyers.
