well here in oregon nobody owns the beaches. we have an open access law.

and if you can afford 3 million for a lot you can afford to hang a poor person in front of your property to scare off the riff raff.

what if the beach sand shifts, why is it the Counties responsibility to
A. make a jetty
B. move sand around to protect homes

It isn't the county's responsibility in a lot of areas. Most gated beach front communities spend millions of dollars raised by dues and private taxes to dredge and reshape the beach front every few years. The county isn't responsible for making a pretty beach front but if you spend millions of dollars bringing in that sand why the hell should free loaders plop down and leave trash all over it. I'd stand on my balcony with a pellet gun...

The property line has to be defined. The waterway and oceans cannot be owned. If I anchor my boat off of your shore during high tide....which I have every right to do. Then the tide goes out and my boat is beached for a few hours at low tide. Am I now parking my boat on your land?

I stayed at a house with a private beach in myrtle beach a week ago. The deal was that the actual beach property was owned by the property owner of the house, the public was free to walk across it, but couldnt set up camp there.

the way i see it.. the beach is no different than a yard. if you buy the house and land, you own that section of the beach.. if you can own land anywhere else in the world, why should a patch of sand be excluded from that

Well at one of my beach houses in miami, I have put quality fencing 20 feet into the water.

I own a beachfront property here in Oz, but the the beach and a few metres past the end of the sand are public lands. our property actually starts about 10 mtes back from the sand.
