Supper 07-21-2005, 12:10 AM so yesterday I wrecked real bad on my bike.
this is basically what happened:
Sup: came around a downhill sweeping corner and caught a wash
Sup: front end blew out on me
Sup: i went down shoulder first
Sup: somehow the bike flipped over
Sup: rear tire landed on my right arm
Sup: the rear brake rotor literally skinned me
Sup: i have no skin left on part of my right elbow (about 6" x 3")
Sup: the tire chewed some chunks out of my right forearm right bellow the wrist
Sup: the handlebars smashed my head into the ground and I don't remember if I blacked out or not
Sup: then the bike continued over and I kept sliding
Sup: went left side first into a bunch of trees
Sup: so my left forearm has about 20 fairly decent lacerations from tree branches
Sup: the exhaust landed on my right leg, so I have a nice welt there where it almost burned through the pants
Sup: and my left leg got wrapped around a pretty big tree at just above the boots
Sup: and all this from about 25 - 30 mph of speed
Sup: thank god I wasn't going faster, it was a 100 or so foot drop off the side of the hill where I wrecked if I would have slid a few more feet
Crap man. Glad you're still in one piece.
How in the hell did the bike flip on you? You talking about a dirt/gravel wash on the road? Usually the tires slip out and it just drops.
aznpoopy 07-21-2005, 12:20 AM damn supper
hope you're doing better
you need to post pics of those injuries!
how's the bike?
turboSE 07-21-2005, 12:24 AM OUCH!!!

Savington 07-21-2005, 12:26 AM Hello Tom and Supper.
Carbine 556 07-21-2005, 12:28 AM pics please?
how are you? bed ridden, or still good to move besides the obvious.
1 bad 7 07-21-2005, 12:34 AM Holy shit dude!
This thread is truly worthless without pics! Glad you're doing ok...
Now we need to find TGLRK - he's gonna (hopefully) go back to the OTHER forum and be like, "WTF mate?"
Supper 07-21-2005, 12:35 AM Tom, I don't know how it flipped.
I rememeber hitting the gravel wash, it was about 6" deep and ran at a 45° to my direction of travel, then coming out of the wash at the wrong direction for the corner, locking up the brakes trying to stop and leaning the bike into the soft stuff.
next thing I remember is face planting in the dirt, hearing the bike rev as my hand rolled off the throttle, feeling the tire chew into my right forearm, heard a loud crack as the handlebars (I think) augered my head into the ground. Then it kinda gets fuzzy for a few minutes. Then I remember sliding into the trees and feeling the left leg impact and turn me a bit on the dirt, then I remember rolling over and watching my riding partner wreck in the exact same place. But he didn't get hurt, just his bike.
It took 4 or 5 tries before I could even stand up, then about 5 or 10 minutes before I could walk like a sober person. I couldn't pick the bike up or even undo the buckles of my camelback.
Bike took no damage that I could see, and I spent the next 20 minutes doing some thurough cleaning of the wounds with water sprayed from the camelback and my fingernails. Riding partner did a field dressing with electricians tape and some bandages I had in my first aid kit. We then rode 40+ minutes back to the pickup.
I had to ride 6 hours back in the pickup today since I wasn't about to go to the damn emergency room in Boise, and wound up at the doctors at 4:30, so I won't know about broken bones or anything from the X-Rays until tomorrow.
I'll snap some pics next time I change the bandages on my roadrash.
Supper 07-21-2005, 12:38 AM oh, and now because of this wreck I have to get a new helmet, new goggle frames, new upper body armor, new jersey and possibly some new riding pants. Not to mention needing to repair the skid plate on the bike and the toe armor on my boots.
Carbine 556 07-21-2005, 12:40 AM HORRAY FOR SUPPER
for not dying
FeatherTheClutch 07-21-2005, 03:31 AM God that sucks, thank god you can still post porn! lol. Wearing a helmet i hope? what kind of bike was it?
Supper 07-21-2005, 02:15 PM yeah, wearing a helmet.
The bike was my XR-650R that I can't post pics of because of photobucket.
I took some pics of the wounds today, i'll find somewhere to host my images in the next couple days and post the pics up of the wounds.
6" is a pretty deep wash. That alone would catch the tire, I'd imagine..
Man- it's been a while since I rode dirtbikes. I remember hitting some thick, wet, gooey clay that washed out on an old abandoned access road and spilling my bike.
That was in the days of jean shorts, sneakers and tank-top riding with no helmet. I'm damn lucky I wasn't killed!
So let's see those rash pics!
Supper 07-21-2005, 02:23 PM 6" isn't bad when you have been riding over washes and the like for the last couple years.
IT was at such an angle with the road that you had to turn away from the corner to cross it, since the first rule of crossing washes is to cross as close to 90 degrees as possible...
eh... blah blah.
I just ordered a six six one pressure suit body armor today, i'll post pics of that when I get around to it as well.
here's the URL: http://www.sixsixone.com/gearmoto/armor_pressuresuit.html
FeatherTheClutch 07-21-2005, 02:24 PM I want a bike so bad, but its not that i dont trust my self..i dont trust the other people on the road.
Supper 07-21-2005, 02:32 PM ^thats why mine is a dirt bike. not many other people out where I ride.

Yeah- I know 90deg is optimum. I mean if you're turning in or out or at an angle of course.
Supper 07-21-2005, 02:35 PM indeed.
i don't think i'll ever know for sure what caused it/how everything happened, unless I would have had videotape of it.
Carbine 556 07-21-2005, 05:33 PM thats a kick ass jacket!

At least on this forum, you don't have to scroll over to read text - what a concept! :)
