2ndGen.Rocket 08-24-2005, 05:04 PM How do I do this? I have a Linksys wireless router with a cable connection, and I know my freakin' scumbag neighbors are stealing my internet and slowing my connection down. How do I put an encryption or a password up before the connection can be accessed? Say No To Pistons 08-24-2005, 05:12 PM i dont know. but if you thikn theyre on, pull the plug and yell out "FUCK OFF MY INTERWEB!" wonner 08-24-2005, 05:14 PM I'm not sure about Linksys, but most wireless routers have WEP encryption......enable in settings, maybe? 1revnrex 08-24-2005, 05:19 PM type in 192.168.1.1 in Internet Exploder and when you are prompted for your username and password type in I believe just admin in the password blank and leave username alone. Once you go into the router setup click on Wireless and setup your MAC address as the only one allowed on the router. Im pretty sure thats it if you have a WRT54G or WRT54GS. 1revnrex 08-24-2005, 05:21 PM I'm not sure about Linksys, but most wireless routers have WEP encryption......enable in settings, maybe? Yah WEP works GGGGGRRREAT!!! I can break WEP in about 5-6 minutes using a passive attack that cant be traced, the MAC address way is pretty much the way to go. wonner 08-24-2005, 05:23 PM Yah WEP works GGGGGRRREAT!!! I can break WEP in about 5-6 minutes using a passive attack that cant be traced, the MAC address way is pretty much the way to go. 1revnrex Administrator PiMP Haxor :bigthumb: Cosby 08-24-2005, 05:23 PM You must be cracking a pretty large network to passively crack a wep key that quickly. I read a good article on wep cracking a while back... I'll see if I can find it but it had the projected time to crack each ver. of a key. 1revnrex 08-24-2005, 05:34 PM You must be cracking a pretty large network to passively crack a wep key that quickly. Look back into it Chris, you dont need as many packets as you did about a year ago to get keys. 1revnrex 08-24-2005, 05:38 PM Example: Article by Michael Ossmann from last year about AirSnort and a few others http://www.securityfocus.com/infocus/1814 Supper 08-24-2005, 08:44 PM heh. easiest way is as revnrex said, MAC address allowed user list. Or you could just turn the SSID broadcast off and change the name of your network so if you want to allow friends and whatnot on you don't have to fuck with the settings and restart to modem/router everytime you add or change anything. Where I live, I figure if they are smart enough to go wardriving, I'll let them leach off me. 2ndGen.Rocket 08-24-2005, 10:11 PM I changed the MAC allowed user list to just allow me and my roommate on. It apparently worked because a friend 2 houses down that was stealing internet off of me said that he can't get on now. 1revnrex 08-24-2005, 10:44 PM I changed the MAC allowed user list to just allow me and my roommate on. Did ya change your default password on the router? 2ndGen.Rocket 08-25-2005, 08:10 AM Yup, I don't think anyone around here is smart enough to crack any of this anyways. |
