Alright, sales taxes are quite understood...
But, if you buy something, you get taxed when buying it....
Then you get taxed to own it?
Bullshit much?

King 10-20-2005, 10:02 PM Am I alone on thinking this? Alright, sales taxes are quite understood... But, if you buy something, you get taxed when buying it.... Then you get taxed to own it? Bullshit much? jimlab 10-20-2005, 10:13 PM Yeah, especially when I have to pay your share of the taxes... King 10-20-2005, 10:17 PM You can paypal me the money if you're offering. meddle 10-20-2005, 10:18 PM we have them here in missouri. rtryb2200 10-20-2005, 10:20 PM yep they suck...have them in escrow now so I don't worry about them much, just another bill SpartanTS 10-20-2005, 10:37 PM Taxes on my Cavalier is about $80 now. Taxes on my Prelude were $20. I rolled the odometer up to 400,000 miles for the high mileage discount :D "It's still running at that many miles?" The clerk said. "Yep, like I bought it yesterday" Said Mr. BabyUsher 2ndGen.Rocket 10-20-2005, 11:28 PM It's quite gay. I paid about $80 on my bike and around $200 on my truck. I don't understand how you can be taxed for owning something, I thought we were past colonial days. King 10-20-2005, 11:35 PM It's quite gay. I paid about $80 on my bike and around $200 on my truck. Laswt year, I paid on my 1993, 1987, rx7s and my accord, it was like $1200. Maybe missouri has a higher rate. I'm pretty shure it was $1200, have to check my records. I know i'm going out on a limb there, but $1200 for 2 old ass cars and a 19xx/200x? Accord? I know where "NOT" to move. STL and Silicon Valley. You and Batman give great advice. jimlab 10-21-2005, 12:29 AM Sounds like Washington's (previously) fucked-up licensing fees. The last time I licensed my FD in April of '98, I paid over $800 for tabs. The last time I drove the car was May of '98, so I paid $800-something for a month and a half of legal driving. My Supra was $900+, and I paid over $1,300 for the first year's tabs on my Z06. Now I pay $65 no matter what car I drive. Thank God for Tim Eiman. rtryb2200 10-21-2005, 09:39 AM registration for vehicles here are pretty cheap compared to most states 65 for cars and 72 and up for trucks depending on the weight $100T2 10-21-2005, 09:48 AM Am I alone on thinking this? Alright, sales taxes are quite understood... But, if you buy something, you get taxed when buying it.... Then you get taxed to own it? Bullshit much? You forgot the first step in the process as well... The money you are paying with has already been taxed for earning it. So, let's say you are charged roughly 30% income tax (that includes social security, federal, state, etc), then are charged oh, 5% when you buy something... And then you are charged property tax of what, 1 1/2% and other fees, they are really screwing you. King 10-21-2005, 04:55 PM You forgot the first step in the process as well... I usually only work 25 hours a week, and again.. i'm going to school..and for some fucked up reason 25% of paycheck is gone to taxes. wingsfan 10-21-2005, 05:03 PM Sounds like Washington's (previously) fucked-up licensing fees. When I moved to Washington for graduate school it was $780 to register my Explorer (my ass still hurts from that). When I left it was a flat $33. :) It's $65 now? About on par with Tx. IIRC it was ~$20 for my state inspection sticker and $35 for my registration. This year we add smog (and another $16). King 10-21-2005, 05:06 PM To register vehicles in Virginia... You must pay a % of sales tax but you don't have to provide a bill of sale. So it's always a gift or cheap for me. Then, you have to pay for the registration/plates which is like $35 a year. Then inspection, no smog or anything though. |
