that's fucking awesome. I would be running for shelter though, wouldn't want to get hit in the face with that.

sweet, I've seen quite a few pictures like that. A guy I work with at Park City was a HMMWV driver, he had some stories about sand storms. He said the most scared he ever was while over there was driving into a sand storm and visibility going to zero, couldn't even see the front bumper of the humvee anymore. Said a "green light" filled the cab, it was static electricity from the sand arcing onto the metal panels of the humvee. Supposedly has a picture of "green lightning" arcing between the antennas on the back.

Cool pics, even if I was halfway expecting an article about Darude...

Like St. Elmo's fire, but not in a plane?

I doubt it, this was the static electricity discharge from the sand particles themselves, not just electrical discharge from the air. I've experienced it going over the pass west of Denver but driving through fog. Instead of the electricty building up enough to cause lightning, it just grounds out the charge on your vehicle. If its bad enough it will completely trash your paint.

No, I was expecting something similar.

Sandstorm is the extent of my techno knowledge.

I took my guess because the title seemed too easy.

"A sandstorm in Iraq worth covering? Don't they have those like every week?"

nope. Song's overrated IMO.

That's why I brought it up, actually. It's 2007, and it STILL gets played like it dropped a year or two ago...
