$100T2 08-08-2005, 12:23 PM I gotta admit, I love watching that show, even though 99% of the stuff they do is ricer bullshit.
Last night, they put a "Jackhammer" into this kid's Buick... What's a "Jackhammer"?
It's a 22 inch diameter, 23 inch long subwoofer by MTX. It weighs 370 pounds and can take 8500 watts. They had to build a steel frame for it, as well as a steel reinforcement to be able to hold the damn thing in place.
They said it was the first one in the world ever put into a vehicle. I've never seen anything like it.

DarkAngelKamui 08-08-2005, 12:26 PM I just want to know why everything has to have flames put on it... Some colors look nice with the design, but damn... Is a simple single or two tone color too hard to ask for??
I swear, I bet those Mexicans have something to do with it....
Edit: They should put in two and make it look like it has dual afterburners....
RedR1 08-08-2005, 12:27 PM I love watching the show. Just to see what idea's they have. Some of the stuff is gawdy, but I love watching it.
I sent ya ($100T2) a PM like a week ago, didja ever get it? Just wondering, bc you usually always reply.

Hades12 08-08-2005, 12:27 PM I watched a few saturday night.
A c10 they did great
a minivan also came out nice.
Fumanchu 08-08-2005, 12:32 PM Audiobahn used to make a 32'' sub a few years ago.

please tell me you're not talking about hte one with the 80s toyota minivan.... they put a body kit on it and painted flames :p: that one was horrible haha
but yes, pimp my ride is a fun show to watch :)
exzibit makes me laugh... cause he's retarded.

I probably forgot about it... I get an assload of PMs.

All good :)
rxtasy 08-08-2005, 12:44 PM yeah, that show IS fun to watch but i wouldn't want them doing my car. if they would just tone things down alittle bit, why do they have to take things to the extreme. at least with overhaulin, u come out with a practically brand new vehicle. all pmr does is interior and exterior. i bet they don't know the first thing about hp and suspension.

This was Dodge. They did a two tone with reverse fade. Was some great paint work. The wheels looked like ass, but the interior got an easy chair and a flat panel with docking station for a new Sony viao.
The C10 they showed the engine, new LS1 with fuel injection.
DarkAngelKamui 08-08-2005, 12:48 PM Well, they have recently started going into giving them rebuilt engines...
i agree a motor swap and coilovers should be standard issue.
Onlyonthurs! 08-08-2005, 01:01 PM the show does make me laugh...it is very entertaining...but i would NOT let them touch my car!!!

No shit I wonder how many of those cars wind up sitting beside the road with blown motors and bad alternators.
I like to call those cars candy coated turds. Like M&Ms except shit not chocolate.
wonner 08-08-2005, 02:03 PM the show does make me laugh...it is very entertaining...but i would NOT let them touch my car!!!
word to that....but really, a 22'', 370lbs sub? How fucking useful is that on a regular car. A dedicated decibel show car, yes, but a dd? I'd rip that thing out, and sell it for 2 12''s
rx-7_Z06 08-08-2005, 03:53 PM who the hell needs a sub that loud?
I saw what I think was a re-run on saturday. They "pimped" the drop top Chevelle and they did a DAMN good job for once.

Yeah, that one turned out nice... And, they put in a brand new fuel injected motor.
Savington 08-08-2005, 04:50 PM Audiobahn makes a 34" subwoofer. Their showcase car is a Chevy Nomad with a 34" surrounded by 4 18s. Something like 5000w. Insanity.
$100T2 08-08-2005, 04:53 PM http://www.trafficjams.com/New_Installs/95impala/34inch070802new.jpeg
It doesn't look as solid as the 22" though.
Carbine 556 08-08-2005, 05:18 PM they do a nice job on some of the trucks. but my favorite has to be the toyota landcrusier or the chicks surburban (im talking the way it looks outside, not the shit they add to the inside) the surburban was sitting on like 33' tires, and a suspension lift.
$100T2 08-08-2005, 05:20 PM Well, they did a yellow landcruiser and a blue (?) suburban... They were both lifted on 20's and off road tires, they both looked pretty good.
Carbine 556 08-08-2005, 06:29 PM hi did you read my post before you posted yours?
nowboostinII 08-08-2005, 06:35 PM come on guys, the best one was deffinately this like 88 or 89 ford torous that belonged to a hip hop instructor haha, they had just one color...it was a nice ass red and the put bmw bumpers on it and a nice wing, with clean tan leather interior. nothing too fancy. It was suppost to be "european sports car" style.
ComradeGiant 08-08-2005, 06:37 PM The greatest thing about the LandCruiser is that when they got done with it, it still had a top speed of 55, and was still just as useless to her as before.
cool3865 08-08-2005, 07:34 PM Pimp My Ride UK is better
FeatherTheClutch 08-08-2005, 07:34 PM I just saw the one with the jackhammer, fucking INSANE.
Savington 08-08-2005, 07:39 PM Anyone see the one where they just bought the kid a brand new Scion? That shit was hilarious.
wonner 08-08-2005, 07:50 PM his Escort was welded in half:)
maniacmikey 08-08-2005, 08:35 PM the show does make me laugh...it is very entertaining...but i would NOT let them touch my car!!!
The Mexican won't let the Mexican's touch his car?
RoadRaceJosh 08-08-2005, 08:48 PM I'd let them pimp my '72 Dodge 1 ton van. I bring too many dead cars home to not have a tow vehicle. :) It's got good mechanicals, it's not rusty, but it's boring as hell. The CD player got jacked so there are no tunes. It has 16.5" steel wheels and really worn out door hinges. So if they want to paint, upholster, wheel/tire and put a sound system in I'm good with that. A new hemi crate engine would really be nice though. The 318 does ok, but another 150hp wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit. Oh, and there is plenty of room in there for the jackhammer.
GSL-T2 08-08-2005, 09:08 PM if anyone saw the chevelle malibu episode i liked what they did with that save the flames
the paint was shitty too the didnt tape up the black inorder to lay the candy
shamelessFC 08-08-2005, 11:31 PM his Escort was welded in half:)
I honestly didn't believe such things existed until I saw that episode. Why on earth would anyone buy that in the first place? It was OBVIOUSLY 2 cars welded together. I would think that anyone, even without any mechanical knowledge, would realize how unsafe that is.
I'd still go for a Solo X 18". Just as much power and for the price of the jackhammer you can get like 5 solo X's and make way more sound.
SpartanTS 08-09-2005, 12:47 AM SoloX would put up a fight with that MTX sub, but chances are the MTX would probably come out on top, because it does have a bit more cone area.
As you can see in the sig below, i'm a sucka for car audio. Haven't had much time to hit the show scene this year, but once I get my car lookin good for once, i'll be back on the scene.
I can only imagine what that MTX sub sounds like with 8500 watts of power, but i've heard better and louder anyway.
