I am here to inform you guys that i just jumped through no less than five (5) burning hoops, wrestled an angry black bear, skydived solo at night into Columbia and snuck my way out, and finally sacrificed a chicken to Ted Kennedy to get my LTC in Massachusetts!!
Actually, i just went to the basic pistol safety course, did the written test and shot some targets with a Ruger mkIII. The instructor at the course asked me to look into joining the western Massachusetts pistol league too, because apparently im a pretty decent shot (50 foot slow fire, 50 foot timed fire, and 50 foot rapid fire, i had no less than 9 hits in the scoring rings, while most of the rest of the class were happy to have 3 hit the paper!...yes i'm gloating. It feels good to be good at something for once). $100 more dollars and a nice clean haircut before visiting the police chief, and my actual license should be in the mail.
SO! Onto gun recommendations.
As you may or may not know, I already own a Win 1300 turkey gun, and a rem 700 in .243. Now i can get high cap pistols and other cool things.
So first up, i want a .22LR pistol. They're cheap, ammo is stupifyingly cheap, and boatloads of fun. I hear the ruger pistols are a real goddamn PITA to take apart to clean, so i've been leaning towards a S&W 22A. I don't have, nor want to spend the money on a 41. Anyone have experience with the S&W rimfires?
Next up, i've been eyeing a S&W 686 stainless 4" bbl in .357 mag. Anyone have any experience with this, or recommendations to other sixguns? Theres something about revolvers that i really like, so don't bother trying to dissuade me from getting one. I will more than likely NOT be carrying because here, if your gun even PRINTS, you can get charged with assault and battery with a deadly weapon. Yeah. Liberal laws are awesome.
Next on my list, a Mossberg 590A1. It's the one with the metal trigger guard and safety, 8+1 capacity, can get the pistol grip stock and i really like them. Anyone disagree with my choice and can make an argument to instead look at the Remington shotguns? "Why do you need this shotgun, Steel?" you ask.
Zombies.
And finally, one of these days i'd like to pick up an M1 Garand. Though i don't know what to going rate for what condition they go for these days, but that's a piece of history and a neat gun to boot.
