Anyone ever play with a powered paraglider? I'm bidding on one on ebay right now and I'm just looking for some experiences people have had with them. This is the one I'm bidding on:

A guy killed himself on one not too long ago. He killed himself with a .38 special.

Sweet. When Homer gets into trouble against Drederick Tatum, you can swoop in and save him.

Those look fun, my family used to go camping where alot of these, paragliders, and sail cars used to run on the flats below the hill.

There was a guy about 10 minutes away from where I lived when I was a kid that would fly his all over the place. We lived out in the country, so he didn't have much to worry about in terms of tall objects or air traffic. I always thought it was really cool, but I don't think I would ever try it.

Ps. if you win, take your camera up in the air and get us some cool shots.

That looks like a lot of fun. I think I'll start with a hot air ballon ride first, then go from there :)

I lost the auction. A lot of places wont sell you a ppg without making you take their course and get certified.

Keep us updated if you continue to pursue this...I'm interested.

If anyone else wants some quick info on the subject, I found this FAQ that seemed to answer most of my questions.

Looks reasonably safe...even if the engine dies when your 10,000 feet in the air its just a matter of costing down. I would more seriously look into this if I had any money to spare, maybe after college...

There is a place in NC 2 hours from spartanburg that offers the Class 2 certification course for $1000. The problem is that it is 10 sessions which equates to 40 hours of driving.
