The problem with religion is that people started exploiting it to suit their own interests. If no one had ever used religion as justification for their actions, and left it at a personal level or focused in small communities, no one would have a problem with it. Diversity would be the norm, tolerance would be necessecary for any interaction between societies, and no one would be able to rally enough support for holy wars.
Therefore, those at fault are the people who brought huge numbers of people together under a single faith, and encouraged them spread that faith. There are numerous people in all religions who are guilty of this.

That's why even Bush has said the current wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere are not wars on Islam, they're wars on extremism that leads to terrorism.

If religion weren't so extreme and radical, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

YZF, did you see the story about Hell last night on the History Channel? Some say that Christians used Hell as an excuse to get people to go to Church and join the Christian Faith.
Opinions?
