Okay, I am being serious. I was watching Dave Chappelle reruns earlier, and he mentioned how he thought all people who weren't black look the same.

We all realize this because we are most familiar with our own races.

However, this got me thinking...

What about scents? To me, black people have a distinct scent. Much like middle eastern people have a distinct smell, IMO. But, I do not think white people have a smell. I was thinking that this may be due to the fact that I am most familiar with my race; much like the appearance thing.

So, I ask you non-Caucasians on this board: Does whitey smell? When you walk past a white person, do they have a distinct smell? What about people of the fellow race? Do you notice that people of your race have a certain scent?

I'm being serious, and I really hope I'm not coming off as offensive. I'm NOT saying that any one race stinks, I'm just saying that I can pick up a scent that is common to the majority of a single race.

but one would argue that germans smell a certain way, and italians another. or the english compared to canadians. there are so many different kinds of white people. so i would say, no. white people all smell different.

I can smell black people, they can probably smell white people too.

Houses always smell different. I wonder if people with STANK houses know their house stinks when they go into other houses and they don't stink. Almost all asians I know have the cleanest houses I've seen.

I don't think black people wash their hair as much as we (at least I) do. That might be it. I guess if you have a perm of braids or dreads or those little nap things you cant wash it every day maybe once a week.

usually it has to do with diet. Because Indians and Pakistanis eat a lot of curry, masala, etc. it comes out their pores as a recognizable scent. Chinese eat a lot of boiled fish, rice, and noodles without hot spices. Brits eat a lot of sausage and other pan-fried foods. And so on.

How offensive the odor is usually comes down to a combination of familiarity (how accustomed you are to the scent of that food) and hygene.

It's just comedy. It's usually a funny joke, but he knows, and we know that all people of other races do not look the same.

As for the smell, I can't really tell. Sometimes, white people have a smell, but it's only in the hot months, but that's usually when I smell everybody, especially fat people no matter what race.

This may be classist, but poor black people have a smell. It's usually not a good one. However, I had some Trailer Park trash come in for some ink "cartlidges" yesterday, and he smelled like he had been rolling around in a pile of shit. So smell can be associated with being dirt poor, too.

Indians smell funny. I work with them.

I asked a french girl once how did she think "Americans" smelled, and she said that she thought we all smelled like foul meat.

however i can smell the funky asian smell when i first get home. i do think asian homes have a weird smell.

white people definitely have a smell... and it smells BAD. luckily it only materializes when they are bad with their hygeine. it smells like fungal socks left in a moldy bin in the sun spritzed with water every other day or so. i had a white roommate my first year of college and that smell has been forever burned into my head. he ran cross country and had a bad habit of not showering after practice or doing his laundry.

black people have a smell. it's not pleasant to me. i don't know wtf it is. i don't think it's universal.
