I'm thinking about going to the 1/4 mile track this saturday. I haven't been to that track since 2002-2003. The best time I ever got there was a 13.8, but that was with an exhaust leak big enough to turn on the check engine light on.

I have lost all my slips, but I can remember having trouble in the traction department. I had the stock rims with some BFGoodrich comp t/a's 245 45 R17. They were in okay shape.

I now have the best set of tires on my stock rims sitting in the garage. I have BFGoodrich (I forgot what goes here) kdw or kdws or kdwss. 255 45 R17. They are still good, but kinda worn from regular driving.

I don't really care what happens to those tires right now so I'm willing to put them thru a beating. Do you guys know any tricks or subatance I can add to make them stickier? I know about the coca cola thing right before you race them, but I'm very sceptical this will work.

I'm asking because I don't have money to prep the car for the drag races. I'm just going with some old friends to relive the good ol days, but I want to do as well as I can.

Any tips are appreciated.

Drive AROUND the water pit. As you're going around just do a quick little rev/clutch dump to clean off the tires.

I know that part...I used to race there all the time, but I stopped for a few years now.

I just wanted to know what substance you can use to make your tires stickier.

try and get ahold of whatever they use to spray the track down. Can't remember the name of it...

I actually found the waterbox to be beneficial on street tires if I did the burnout in it and carried it out past it into all the sticky race rubber left on the staging zone by the slick laden cars. 10psi pressure and a nice long creeping burnout got my best 60' times. It was actually surprising because I could dump the clutch at 6k and not lose traction, when before I had to feather the clutch at 4k to get any.

But this was on a slower car, maybe it doesn't work on faster cars.
