BATMAN 09-12-2008, 10:57 AM Anyone know what these things are putting to the front wheels at 91 octane pump gas? he wanted to race me, but it was during rush hour and I had a date in the GTO. Squirrel 09-12-2008, 03:08 PM depending on whats under the hood... it could be anything... wotnartd 09-13-2008, 06:23 AM It really could be anything, I worked with a guy that had a turbo Mugen swap (~418 HP @~20 PSI, IIRC), and that thing was hella fast! cool_as_crap 09-13-2008, 12:08 PM There are so many Honda motor/head swap combinations... +3 to the "It could be anything". fcdrifter13 09-14-2008, 10:39 PM +4 could be anything, h,f,d,b,k all those can go into that car with lil or no work. But if he is cheap, most likely a b18b/a with sleeves, and a turbo kit that was pieced , something like 350hp. I really havn't messed with anything Honda in a long time so I may be way off. BATMAN 09-15-2008, 10:01 AM It really could be anything, I worked with a guy that had a turbo Mugen swap (~418 HP @~20 PSI, IIRC), and that thing was hella fast! that sorta power on 91 octane pump? dg123 09-15-2008, 12:50 PM I have a buddy who is into Hondas and apparently its pretty common to take a 14b DSM turbo and slap one of those onto an otherwise stock D16. Its cheap to do it too; well under $1,000 and it transforms an otherwise lame 16 sec car into something that can dip into the high 14's in the 1/4 mile. BATMAN 09-15-2008, 01:19 PM if that is the HP that they are making then I am not worried in the GTO. dg123 09-15-2008, 01:46 PM IF what I said is the case, then you really have nothing to worry about. 10-12 psi out of a 14b on a D16 is maybe 150 to the front wheels, and even though the curb weight is most likely no heavier than 2500lbs, your GTO could easily take it (assuming its stock). Although, I would still be careful since said civic would only need 180-190 at the front wheels to be able to hold pace with you assuming both drivers are equally skilled. Thats T3 territory @ ~8 psi with a shoddy tune. Not uncommon, especially with an LS swap. The one thing you do have in your favor is the squat once you launch. BATMAN 09-15-2008, 02:29 PM My GTO makes 515rwhp. the mods are supercharger (5psi) long tube headers x pipe full exhaust intake ECu tuned. We were rolling on the freeway. wotnartd 09-15-2008, 03:16 PM that sorta power on 91 octane pump? 418 on pump And his car weighed a lot less than your goat. He also had a turbo busa that made 324.9, saw the dyno charts and vids. He sold it for like $12k. dg123 09-15-2008, 03:19 PM My GTO makes 515rwhp. the mods are supercharger (5psi) long tube headers x pipe full exhaust intake ECu tuned. We were rolling on the freeway. Yeah, Mr. Civic wouldn't know what hit him :bigthumb: BATMAN 09-15-2008, 04:28 PM dam civic sounded mean with the blow off valve and turbo spolling. Fendamonky 09-19-2008, 06:24 PM ^ As Mr. Obama so eloquently put it: "You can put lipstick on a pig..." |
