wheels *AHEM* (note my #1) are the most striking visual upgrade to a car.

too bad most people fuck this up by running 4x4 fender gap and sunk offset wheels.

it's a shame people seem to forget they serve other important purposes... i.e. reducing unsprung weight and determining the range of rubber you can run.

good post, poop...but I think 16" wheels look gay, I guess I'll pay the penalty for the extra unsprung weight not to have to look at them anymore...I'm sure it cost me some acceleration (and my car actually hooked up better with the higher profile "stock" tires)

^^IMHO fancy chrome wheels like that don't belong on a "sports" car, they belong on a luxury car. Chrome adds more weight than paint does. The size is ok, wider and stiffer tires mean better handling, but it's not the right look for that type of vehicle.

depends on the rim itself......some look horrible.......some look nice.... but it will ultimately come down to what's the most HP your car is going to see??
How much grip will you need?
will you need a low profile tire? how long do those last? how are their performance?
will the 7" deep rim fit wide enough tires without rubbing?
will you need to modify the stock wheel or go to a slightly larger flare piece to fix rubbing issue?

17 is the largest I would go......but 7" seems a tad small.......how wide a tire can you fit on a 17x7? 215's or 225's ?

As far as I know, 17s will fit. But I agree, they're too skinny. I'd rather do 8" wide tires, but those cost even more. Work good and look good, I'm not out autocrossing quite yet at this point it's more aesthetic. The stockers have to go, phone dials leave waaayyyy too much room in the wheel well.

I've always liked BBS wheels. The one piece are good but I usually deal with the 3 piece for the Porsche club here in town.

BBS are nice, but they don't treat my wallet well.

Yeah, phone dials are the lightest, but they're 14" and only like 6" wide. Ain't much to them. There is so much sidewall, it's ridiculous... For some reason, i sorta like them, but at the same time, I hate them so much.

My budget is MAYBE $500, but not anytime soon. I'll be taking care of my suspension first. The car I'll be swapping into has 88,000 on it, so it will beat my 190,000 stock suspension hands down.
