WIN! So much WIN! It is such a mellow taste, but at the same time explodes! It's not harsh, has no bite, but is still a very obvious ale.

I bought a growler at a rather nice liquor store.

Almost gone.

Pickled corpse tumbles out of rum barrel
Thirsty Hungarians find surprising cause for drink’s ‘special taste’

msnbc.com staff and news service reports
updated 12:48 p.m. MT, Fri., May. 5, 2006

BUDAPEST, Hungary - Hungarian builders who drank their way to the bottom of a huge barrel of rum while renovating a house got a nasty surprise when a pickled corpse tumbled out of the empty barrel, a police magazine Web site reported.

According to online magazine www.zsaru.hu, workers in Szeged in the south of Hungary tried to move the barrel after they had drained it, only to find it was surprisingly heavy and were shocked when the body of a naked man fell out.

The Web site said that the body of the man had been shipped back from Jamaica 20 years ago by his wife in the barrel of rum in order to avoid the cost and paperwork of an official return.

According to the Web site, workers said the rum in the 300-liter barrel had a “special taste” so they even decanted a few bottles of the liquor to take home.

The wife has since died and the man was buried in a proper grave.

Good stuff isn't it :D :40oz:

I find that I have to be in a particular mood to be able to drink it. It's got a certain flavor to it that will sometimes taste a little off-beat, but other times it will taste amazing. Try it out of a tap sometime, that explosion you taste is a little more pungent.

I think it's great how they took an ale, which can be a hard pill to swallow some times and made it really... smooth.

Ever have Samuel Adams Cherry Wheat? Sometimes that's the best shit in the world (actually has a nice cherry wood taste to it) and others it just plain sucks ass (tastes like cherry robitusin). I guess it depends on the batch huh? Maybe it was like dg was saying and it depends on mood? It can be the absolute fucking win, but it can be the absolute fucking suck. Last batch I had sucked. :\

I'm pretty sure I have. It was pretty good if I'm thinking of the right cider.

Now, the one that I *really* like is a British Cider called Aspall Cider (http://www.aspall.co.uk/), it's goooood and comes in at about 7%. Pints go down fast and smooth, you only realize how much bite it's got when you get up and walk to the bathroom with 3-4 in you, and it HITS you! I've gotten tanked before I realized it on more than one occasion thanks to this lovely concoction..

It's brewed in Vermont.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Woodchuck_cider

Pretty good as well, I remembered it for sure once I saw the label. Ciders are great for a night out when you want to get drunk, but are in the mood for something light and crisp with the same kick as a Guinness that doesn't carry the "chick drink" stigma that most all malt mixers have. AKA, drinking Cider in public won't make you look like a fag (unless you look like a fag anyway, then not even chugging a couple Four Horsemen won't help ya...).

You mean Vermont has more than gay people and maple syrup? I'm shocked!

I haven't had a cider brew before. I've had Apple Cider with some cinnamon and Bacardi, but never a bottled cider brew. Gonna have to try some.

I picked some woodchuck up at the grocery store. It's awesome! My GF even loved it. It's so good.

Thanks for the tip, Mike!

Srs, do me a favor. Buy a half quart or gallon of apple cider. Buy a 750 ML bottle of favorite liquor (I'm not that big a fan of bacardi, but it seems to work pretty well). Nuke the cider for 30 seconds in like a coffee cup, throw a shot of booze in, sprinkle some cinnamon in, enjoy. That's hard cider yo. It's also awesome if you are sick. IMHO, that pwns the bottled hard cider.

You have no idea what "Hard Cider" is, do you? If you want to make your own Hard Cider than go out into the country towards the end of Autumn, stop off at the random country store and get some local (non-pasturized!) cider. Go home, pop the top and throw a raisen or two in there and cork it again (make sure that bitch is on there solid as it WILL build pressure!). Shake it up every day or two to in order to keep the sediment mixed in with the liquid, then drink that shit about a month later. It's a little bit of work, but it's damn interesting ^_^

Liquor + Cider = Mixed Drink.

Try to find some Schweppes brand lemonade (yes, they make lemonade, just hard as shit to find in the states) and use that as a mixer. It's fucking AWESOME! Vodka, SoCo are the best with lemonade.

I've had it that way as well. Local fair acre farm grocer sells unpasteurized cider. That's the best way, but unpasteurized cider much the same as unpasturized milk is difficult to find.

Both ways are better then gay champagne wanna-be cider IMO.

wait, so you put a couple of raisins into a jug of real apple cider, then just wait a month? Do you keep it room temperature?

Wouldn't it spoil?

What's the proof?

I believe it's referred to as Fermenting

What's the proof?

Not sure. It was like 6 years ago when I did it last, wasn't too scientific really... just did it, drank it, enjoyed it and got fucked up off it :bigthumb:
