I was bitten by a squirrel once and ever since then i think they are out to get me. I think they are mad cause i killed there leader. * After being bitten, I tried to rid my yard, nay the neighborhood of said vermin. One day i came home from 9th grade and saw a big one in the back yard. I grabbed my shotgun and spare unboxed shells in the cabinet(consisted of 3 buckshot .00, and 2 bird shot bieng first). I went out of my garage and around the house and it was on a rise in the yard lined up perfect! I squoze off the shot of bird and knocked it rolling. It immediately got up and started bouncing to the nearest tree about 50 ft away. BLAM!! bird number two hits it and it changes direction to a slightly further away tree but towards me! I think sweet! ill get it yet. BLAMMMM! the first of the buck shot tears it a new one and it is still running but now two legged. all of the above happened relativly quick, within a few seconds. Just long enough to pump the gun and trail him. Now he is at the base of the tree and i miss the next shot i think but anyway he gets on the tree trunk. BBLLAAMMMM! With the final shot of double ought buck i plaster him to the tree and he falls to the ground doing tight circles with the 1 1/2 limbs he has working! STILL ALIVE AFTER @ DIRECT BIRD SHOT AND 2 DIRECT BUCK SHOT!!!!!! I couldnt beleive it. i stood there for a second while he was yelling at me and looked incredulously at the scene. It had holes and you could tell something was not quite right in a couple of bone structures, namely the spine. This was a result of the perfect second hit in the air that knocked him around like a major league hitter. I then felt sorry for him and treid to provide him some chiropractic assistance with the butt of my shot gun... Opps! too hard. hes finally dead. Ever since then the squirrels were more carful and i swear developed some code or something. I kept all the tails in a box and counted around 20 the last time i saw the box. i think my dad found it and knew why the yard(2.5 acres in back) was quiet. he threw them away. I swear that was the super man of the squirrel race and they are pissed at me to this day. 2ndGen.Rocket 12-02-2005, 08:18 AM I knew it!!!!!!!!! they are out to get us. I have an old .22 with a massive scope on it, and I used to sit up in my bedroom window and pick off squirrels in the bird feeder. I found that if you shot them in the back half of the spine then both of their back legs give out and they just drag themselves around by the front feet. You do the opposite and they push themselves around. I've had a couple that laid in the yard spinning in circles for a bit as well. It's all about where you position your shot. burnoutking999 12-02-2005, 08:29 AM Alot of them die like that. Yes but, I was using a rather large buck shot and a bird shot at that range was like giving it an awesome golf swing to the body and head. The pattern when i shot the thin all except for the first shot was VERY tight. it was 5 buck hole though and some damage from the bird shot. ive seen them die hard before but this one was immpossible! I zapped a prarrie dog this summer with my .22-250 and must have just grazed his under belly. The bastard jumped about 4 feet high and started running around in circles. Looked like he was trying to break dance or something. finally he slowed down and recieved a direct shot to the head for his efforts. BATMAN 12-02-2005, 11:14 AM Alot of them die like that. I have severed squirrel spines with the same effect. even got a few right at the neck, making them Christopher Reeves. These little fuckers sometimes don't know that they are dead. They seem to have pretty good intelligence and have started to figure out my pellete gun routine........ BATMAN 12-02-2005, 11:20 AM btw, anyone notice that it's a squirrel africanus? DarkAngelKamui 12-02-2005, 12:20 PM You guys sure do take your squirrel murderings seriously.... :hide: BATMAN 12-02-2005, 01:07 PM Crack squirrels: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/10/london_squirrel_terror/ Squirrel genocide: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/11/18/squirrel_website/ burnoutking999 12-02-2005, 02:02 PM i hate squirrels with a passion. second comes the oppossum. they are the most digusting things i have ever seen. one time i saw a dead cow moving(stench =dead) and stopped to invetigate. i saw a possum eating its way out of a rotting carcass. BOOM on the list of "in my yard/killed immediately" animals. |
