I could see him doing it in a shootout. It's ridiculous that he isn't going to the ASG. As for going lacrosse, it's been done. Plus, no one does it in NHL games anyway.

Hockey sucks, people. They need to do something to make it attracting and entertaining for more people. Like how about splitting the league? Make it Canada versus USA. Hockey Sucks? Were you born in fucking Mobile Alabama? I would have to say quite frankly that of the 3 Major Sports I watch (Hockey, Football, Baseball), Hockey is by far the most interesting and entertaining. I also have played since I was 6 years old. No other American sport really compares to the intensity.

Completely agree. I will also add, that in terms of pure skill, hockey players stand alone. Pro NHLers can play sports like soccer, football, baseball and excel (maybe not at a professional level but still really high). Strap some skates on a baseball/football/soccer player, hand them a stick and a puck and prepare to laugh.

I tend to wonder about Americans who share czar's viewpoint. Hockey is fast, intense, the action is non-stop, and the skill is top drawer. Have you ever watched hockey czar?

Well, I did grow up in Detroit so yeah, I know a teeny bit of hockey. And baseball is another sport thats boring as well. And I would have to totally disagree with your selecting of the hottest sport to speculate in and say that American football is the win. Of course if my team was going to the Superbowl (Arizona Cardnals), I'd be interested watching it. Otherwise, looks like I'll be watching plaid skirts until next season.

Hockey is awesome - it's the only sport with full contact where you can't run out of bounds and be protected... plus, have you ever been hit hard into the boards? it can HURT! Even will all of the gear on.

well, sure, but besides that you can virtually make the playoffs in hockey by having a losing record, some other tangent needs to be hyped to hockey for it to thrive. Maybe make all the games play outside which was done a month ago. I believe they said it gotten higher ratings. How bout not stopping the game when people are fighting?

In the Western Conference, you need about 95 points to make the playoffs. The Eastern Conference is slightly less (around 92 points), unless you win the Southeast division.

Couple of things about this one:

1) an outdoor could only work in a limited number of cities as many markets lack either the fanbase or weather, or both.
2) outdoor games are special because they are so rare. If they were to happen every single night, much of the novelty would wear thin.
3) the actual quality of the game suffers when the game is outdoors. The play slows down considerably and players are limited with what they can do with puck as the quality of the ice also suffers.
4) this one ties into #2, but people will only be willing to sit outside in the freezing cold so often. It would be inrealistic to expect to sell out a 70,000 seat stadium more than a couple times a year.

What would this accomplish? People like watching fights. If the game continues, people can't watch both the fight and the game at the same time. What exactly is the upside of this?

No, you gave two stupid suggestions that I explained wouldn't work. Doesn't mean that there is nothing that can make hockey successful, nor does it mean that hockey isn't successful to begin with.

Let me give you an example that you might understand:

Football would be better if the players were celebrity actors and they threw hand grenades instead of footballs. Then you would come on here, explain that my suggestions are stupid, that they hurt the game.

Now I get to come on here like a bumbling moron and say: "what 'can' you do to football to mak it sucessful? You just proved it.....Nothing"
