hey guys, I'm currently looking at an Lexus Sc300 aka Toyota soarer as a second car. I'll be keeping the fc more as a summer car and this will be used as my DD. However i will be modifying it as well, but what I was mainly wondering is has anyone had any experiences with this car?
What do they usually run for? The one I found is 14,500 CDN I'm not sure what the miles are on it but I spoke briefly with the owner and he says it is stock and it runs strong and has absolutely no problems.
I dont know much about this car, did they come in different trims? Did they all have the 2jz N/A motor? This one is a 5 speed which is why I want to jump on it.
Also how well do they handle with suspension work? I'll be using it alot for canyon/mountain. How different will it handle from my FC when all the suspension work is done? I dont wan't to be dissapointed when all is said and done
How is the power? Will it be significantly greater than my N/a fc? Power isnt a big issue for me but I'm still wondering.... Also how about aftermarket support? Plentiful? Any help would be great as well as a nudge in the direction of a good sc300 forum if any exsist
thanks again

5spds are rare. If that's what you really want it might be worth paying extra for a nice one. It could be a LONG time before another one comes up for sale in your area.
It won't be anywere near as nimble or tossable as your FC. it's a big GT car. think of it as an ugly non turbo mk4 Supra. It will never be a sports car. but set it up nicely and it will be reliable and satisfying to drive.

solid car, but not as good MPG and speed as an Acura CL Type S with either a 5-speed manumatic or 6 -speed manual.

I hate the torque-steer on the CL. The automobile industry needs to ditch its idiotic FWD fetish, there is NO advantage.
There is quite a bit of aftermarket support. Anything MKIV will work with the engine. And if you don't mind importing there's some good suspension stuff. I've never actually seen one intended for corners though. They're generally used for high-speed cruising.

agreed, aside from the FWD it's a pretty good bang for the buck as a used car.

Buy it. Since few 5-speeds were sold, and most have been bought by others intent on building their own luxo-Supra, I'd venture to say that you may never have this opportunity again.
