My 7th grade daughter and I are trying to come up with another idea for a science project that don't entail making a stupid volcano and stuffing it with vinegar and powered soda. We were wondering if y'all can help out and come up with different ideas of a good science project. Maybe tell us what projects you remembered doing when you were in Jr high.

We'll be happy to show pics later of your suggestion, however, this project idea has to be turned in tomorrow. Meanwhile, we are looking into countless science project ideas on-line.

can you get your hands on any liquid nitrogen? they sell it at the local ice house over here. You could freeze stuff and shatter it on the table

another idea: use a battery, some wire, a nail, a needle and a cup of water to make a compass. It'll show how you can magnatize a needle with electricity and use it to find north.

i suppose you can drop them in the liquid, pull it out and watch them shatter when you slam them on the concrete.

Damn I just had a flashback with the grasshoppers.

Build a battery.....simple one should do.
Go to radio shack and get a small solar panel, hook it up to the battery. Then get a white LED....use a switch to turn it on and off.

Have her report show the whole green, solar, power cycle, with the 'save the planet' teachers these days its an easy A.

Oh, you could always show how chemical reactions can create a large amount of gas and make a works bomb.

i like both the magnetized needle and the solar panel thus far.

An oldie but goodie is always the potato battery. You can do the same thing with a lemon if you use two different types of metals.

You could bring in a bottle of ammonia and a bottle of bleach, combine them into poison gas and kill the whole classroom...

If not, do the Diet Coke - Mentos thing. Doesn't that explode?

Check out instructables.com, they have a section for science projects.
