I was just talking to queen about this experience I once had...

My father and I were fishing a creek one time when I was 14 or so. He caught a fish, took the hook out and he was holding it up and we were looking at it.

The fish was more of a square shape rather than an oval or circle. The fish looked as if it took a deep breath, then let out a really loud scream, something like the call of a crow, but very distinct.

Anyone have ANY idea what this could've been?

Where's Tom at...he should know...

Yeah... I really didnt know if they were common or what, but the discovery channel was speaking of them in south america like it was really rare...

I used to do a lot of bass fishing...and I never saw a fish that looked like that one....or screamed.

Isn't screaming a normal reaction when someone (or something) sees your mug? :wiggle:

I've heard of fish doing that but I believe it may have been the lung fish that did it. They've been found in a hand full of ponds in america and they're native to africa. That doesn't sound like what you described though:

is there a nuclear plant near that creek or something?

If the creek was near any brackwater or bay estuary, I'd say it was a croaker or black drum.

Neither of them scream, but they do make noises.

If it was purely fresh water- I'd guess it was a type of a sucker (excluding yourself, of course).

Did it look like this?

That's a croaker.

Perhaps gamma rays gave it some lungs.
