I'm sitting around watching COPS right now because I'm bored. So far, they've managed to pull over 3 black guys, and arrest all of them. 2 had an outstanding warrant for a parking ticket or some bullshit. And the other guy had a crack pipe with no crack.

Second, fuck these cops. They have nothing better to do? Really, what exactly did they accomplish? Did they protect anyone? Did they do anything other than arrest some people and cost them more money that they already don't have?
Fuck cops. I don't respect any cop on the street, and I could give a shit who he is. We need less of these stupid assholes on the street. We need to start pushing for cutting law enforcement budgets, and let these faggots know that they are expendable, and need to focus on actual crime.

I feel sorry for people who are constantly harassed by the police because of their race or socioeconomic status, and left to the mercy of a criminal justice system that constantly keeps them behind everyone else. I break the law on a daily basis in one way or another. If I got caught every one of those times I'd have to pay dearly. Fortunately for me I don't get harassed by the cops.

My buddy joined the Sheriff's Dept and he was making 100K with the over time. I believe it was his second year on the force.

Those salaries aren't unheard of in NY either. I know a couple of city cops that are pulling in a nice paycheck.

Hell the cops in Rochester cut over time just this past year and people were pissed. Some cops were making almost $150k a year! People directing traffic and shit no less!

Cops arent all bad. I mean, i just got busted for doing over 100 in a 45 past a state police barracks.... since the cop couldnt radar me in time (and i actaully stopped for him instead of just rocketing away) he gave me the minimum fine.

The number of times I've gotten a ticket is 3. Even when the officer saw me racing since I zoomed by him. The key is being polite and not being a prick. The reasons why people get tickets is they act stupid or yell non-sense about getting a lawyer and having their civil liberties violated.

In fact, the last time I got pulled over, it was for having no plates on the car . . . when I had plates on the car.

Got pulled over for unnecessary acceleration and the cop had no proof it wasn't an accident (spinning out on ice in an ice storm) they let me go with a warning, also 84 in a 55 written to 10 over, 71 in a 55 written to 5 over, fix-it for no cat, fine for illegal muffler (still trying to get through the court system with that).

I've been overly polite to cops, has gotten me nowhere. You're missing the point behind it this. The fact that I "have" to be overly polite to cops is ridiculous. Luckly that doesnt seem to apply (as much) to people who's education changes their names. (Dr. PhD, etc) Due to (I believe) the inherent requirement to grasp very abstract concepts, and come up with a few of your own ideas. (Of course, you can always pay someone to do it for you)

The thing I noticed is that the more education you get, common sense gets trained out of you.

I worked with a guy who had a PhD in physics. The guy was an absolute genius when it came to math, wave propogation, AC electronics, some RF theory, mass, inertia, etc. F'kin amazing the stuff he could come up with, and talking to him about this stuff you could tell that he not only understood what he was saying, but could take what he knew and apply it to something else.

However... The same guy could watch the CNC mill in the shop and still not understand why moving a part in the vise would skew tolerances, even after lining it up with the probe.

Worked with another guy who had a masters in electrical engineering. he could draw up a rather complex working circuit in no time at all. However, he still shocked himself pretty good about once every other week reaching between two 200V power supplies to tighten a bolt, or touching a GLOWING RED capacitor that whose top half been sheared off by a misaligned LCD screen.

Not everyone is like that though, know a PhD in ME that was extremely intelligent... even though his education told him something was going to work one way, he could look at it and tell you that it wasn't going to work and to do it this way. That, to me anyways, seems more valuable than fancy diplomas and certifications.

Good thing business school is all about problem solving and analytical skills. I don't think anything I've ever done required reading and reciting out of a book. A lot of engineering is the same way, problem solving. Med school however, that is reading and retaining information. However you do have to apply that and make very important decisions with it as well. There are without question however, a lot of smart dumb people.

I saw my first chemical shower in my chem class after the supposedly phd instructor popped a beaker after heating it up too much. luckily the moron was rushed under the shower by his assistant.
